Trash TV - The Bachelor/The Bachelorette/Bachelor in Paradise

I agree. I liked who he picked (at least for the moment). She seemed genuinely nice. Not sure of the blonde with the ponytail, she seemed nice but I feel like she could go either way. Liked the nurse with the clay. The girl with the glitter who got the first regular rose, wow, now that was a lot of glitter!

I just watched it after taping it so we could watch the SNL special last night .
I enjoyed it and probably will continue to watch.
I really liked Linda, the llama! So cute.

I found myself a bit confused last night. How did the women know that kind of car he drove? Did he post it on social media and remove it?

His story is that his parents split, that his father was out of the picture and his mother was working. Basketball became his safe place and his family. Is that correct?

During the episode, he referenced how important family was to him. Is that one of the lines that producers fed him to say? Kind of like someone not being in it “for the right reason” or “finding my person”? ETA, I’m not saying the he doesn’t care about his family. More that it seemed like a comment about the family unit being important to him when he didn’t seem to have one.

I watched a comedian’s recap of the episode on YouTube. I feel caught up.

DH watched a little while with me. He pointed out the blonde woman who wore the loose, ill-fitting light green gown. He said, “Wow, they did her a disservice. That’s a horrible dress.” Do the women supply their own dresses?

Yes. Only the lead gets clothes provided

I don’t get your question about the car. I suppose there are several ways someone might know what he drives. His name as a previous contestant and the lead for this season has been out for months.

Clothing & accessory costs for these types of shows can get rather expensive. Many folks don’t normally have gowns and fancy clothing in their wardrobes. Tailoring/alterations can also get very expensive if you don’t readily fit off the rack clothing. These dats lots of fancier garments are bought online and fitting can be quite iffy.

But you would think for such an important event, you would get a gown that looks attractive and fits.

They know what they sign up for when they apply. And one of those things is to bring a wardrobe of gowns.

I recently ran into a book called * The Villain Edit* which is about a romance novel writer who goes onto a Bachelor-style show to revive her career. The plot is readable enough, but the fun part is the amount of detail of what goes on behind the scenes by the show runners - and how much is faked and scripted and edited.

Ugh, I hate the first episodes - stale & phony.

Bring on next week, let’s get it over with.

I missed the first night and have yet to catch up on it, but watched this week. I thought whichever girl pulled him away during the basketball group date was not cool to all those poor little kids standing around waiting - they were adorable.

Also, not a fan of Carolina (and this may be TMI but she doesn’t seem to be a very good kisser…blech…) and I’m kind of curious about Litia - so young to be a venture capitalist…

Tying back into College Confidential, she’s as much a venture capitalist as a college applicant is Founder and Managing Director of a non-profit.

According to her LinkedIn profile, she works for a venture capital company as Head of Platform & Community. Whatever that means.

I like Chloe though she speaks it with an “I” She just seems like a confident, mature, fun woman. I don’t think she is his type enough though. Honestly I think Grant is super sweet but maybe a bit immature??

I think he’s quite into the woman he gave the first impression :rose: to and who he went on the mall date.

Agreed. I can see three or four who make it all the way, but I think this is all about launching a music career for him.

Not watching a new series. But saw this:

This might belong in the Golden Bachelor thread, but I thought the fact that they included “drama” in this sentence was odd. If they are doing well, why include “drama”? Is that there to get people searching for info to click on the article?

Joan and Chock have been dealing with the drama of blending their two families

There are a couple of these new contestants i like, but am clueless about names -

The one he had the “date” in the mall. She seems normal and I think she may have substance.

The one who helped the kid get their breath.

The “plus size” model

And I think that’s it so far.

Cheesy episode. But the claws are coming!

Those are basically the people I mentioned!

I’m also still bad at names
