Trash TV - The Bachelor/The Bachelorette/Bachelor in Paradise

I missed last week (not this past Monday - caught 1/2 of this week’s show) and now I’m confused reading the comments so I’ll have to catch up - who even IS Rose? LOL

And why don’t we like Zoe? I kept thinking last night at the rose ceremony how pretty she is…

I’ve been a ‘no on Carolina’ from the beginning and I see she is the fast becoming the season villainess …such a shocker that he kept her around for another week :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: NOT

Gonna have to catch up…

I like Zoe. She is gorgeous!

IMO Zoe was teed up to be this seasons villain the first couple of episodes but then Carolina came and took that honor.

The first couple of episodes Zoe was hogging Grant time similar to what Carolina is doing now.

Oh wait!! She was the one who took him away from the kids!!! Now I remember!!! THX!

Wow these seasons are getting shorter and shorter! Hometowns next week! :flushed:

I have no clue what is going to happen. I was sad to see Alexe go - such a front runner early on - looking at his final 4 maybe she wasn’t flashy enough.

I admit my front runner Litia….but I don’t know how her religion - Mormon- will fit with his lifestyle. Religion takes a front row seat, no drinking, I don’t know what else. I now put together that she has generally been quite covered up in her gowns and all - assuming her religion has to do with that?

Litia was shown holding glasses of liquor and having glasses in front of her. I started paying attention after they mentioned she was from SLC.

So was she just holding them like for the camera? But not drinking them? Or the glasses were filled with non alcoholic beverages?

Admitting while I know some, I don’t know all the beliefs or restrictions of LDS.

Interesting that it was ok to go on a show like this…

I only realized she was LDS in the last episode. On their one on one, they held shot glasses of whiskey and at their fake dinner table ( I say fake, as I’ve never seen any food in any episode), there was a full wine glass in front of her.

I guess you haven’t watched the show that comes after The Bachelor. Those Mormon wives give a new definition to “Trash TV”.

Referencing my previous post about a novel that delved deep into the false narratives of this kind of show, and how very staged and edited everything is.

Some LDS are very devote and strict about the rules, with no caffeine, no work on Sundays, always wear their special undergarments. And many many more are loose about the rules. My daughter’s BFF is LDS and her family always attended services on Sundays, but they worked at Panera Bread on Sundays if scheduled and their father was an ICE agent so often had to work on Sundays, buy things on Sundays, Of the 4 girls, one went on a mission but the other 3 didn’t.

I’d say they were devote, but flexible. And I know several LDS who aren’t as into the rules (just like with other religions)

Just like any religion, some are more devout than others.

There have been contestants on these shows who don’t drink for a variety of reasons. The franchise has shown everyone with champagne and one with water in the past. I don’t know why they would feel the need to stage things for this contestant.

That it was okay with who? The church? Mormon isn’t like Amish where you are be shunned.

I think it is risky, too, and according to the Mormon Wives show, there is plenty of judgement going on.

Take a look at the shenanigans between the contestants and the pros on Dancing with the Stars. The mode for American-born pros is LDS.

ETA: That wasn’t directed at you, but I’m too lazy to cut and delete and change it. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:

I was a little surprised at the final four. Litia obvs, but I wasn’t sure Dina was cut out for the long haul. Personally, I can see them being together and being relatively happy, but I wasn’t sure that he could see it.

Is Zoe adopted? Or half-white? There was that one hometown shot of a huge group of white people. Was that her family? Or was it Dina, who has a huge family? The shot looked like mountains were in the backdrop, which is why I thought it was Utah Litia rather than Chicago Dina.

Yes. Her adoptive parents are white

Also yes.

I didn’t mean it as a diss and sorry if it seemed that way. The LDS I have been acquainted with (not in real life so through books, authors, social media, etc) hand given me the impression that outward sexual behavior (dress and keeping sexual behavior behind closed doors) doesn’t seem to vibe with the format of The Bachelor series.

And I do not equate LDS with the Amish - who incidentally also live in different ways even amongst themselves! (Meaning some are more strict than others)

I’m learning a lot! Didn’t know that! :hushed:

The family shots were confusing - I was confused!

Yes, they were.
