Tuition Exchange for Fall 2024 (Class of 2028)

New here to this thread. What a fantastic resource! D24 has applied to numerous TE schools for this cycle. Received set rate TE for College of Wooster in late November but no additional merit aid. Received full TE to U Scranton in late December. Received TE set rate + additional ‘tier 1’ amount a week or two ago at St. Lawrence University. S21 has TE at DePauw U (set rate plus additional merit amount for full tuition). D24 also applied to Xavier U and accepted but no word on TE. Several more schools to wait on.

Did you ask about where you were on the waitlist? When S21 was waitlisted for TE at Gonzaga, we asked his AO where he ranked; she told us he was not high on the list and probably would not receive it there, so we moved on to other schools. That same year my colleague’s son was waitlisted for TE at Marquette, which is very competitive (about 5%), and he eventually received it. The wait was only a few weeks.

any merit aid is good merit aid!

My S21 applied for TE at Xavier. It was the last school to notify us (April). My colleague’s child, who is a year younger, has TE there, and I think he heard a little earlier–maybe March?

My s23 was denied TE at Xavier last year but he had a lower gpa 3.3 (ended with a 3.4). The music school there really wanted him too.

It’s hard to understand the logic of some TE decisions. While most play out the way you think they will, some surprise you. S21 got several TE offers at schools we felt were reaches and was waitlisted or denied at a few target and “safety” schools. That’s why it’s wise to cast a wide net.

Exactly. I was actually shocked when he was accepted to Syracuse and was given TE there. It was always on my son’s list but we didn’t pay much attention to it because we figured his chances were so low. However, compared to the others, I knew Syracuse would win out if we could make it affordable. It just totally fits him!

I did not ask. A colleague at work had a son go to Clark and her impression was Clark never really awards TE exchange to people in state (which 100% might be incorrect and it is totally anecdotal and her observation) but I think because she kept telling me that, in my mind it was unlikely to begin with and I was happy we were on the waitlist at all. We did reply yes immediately to be kept on the waitlist but I wasn’t very hopeful for it coming through. If it does it will be amazing, but I feel like I am just as likely to win the lottery.

Syracuse is my son’s dream. I try to bring him down to earth (or kind of say it’s unlikely to happen) but he would go in a second.

I am keeping my fingers crossed for you! After seeing my colleague’s son move quickly off the waitlist at Marquette, I believe that these things happen.

Received an email that D24 is on Monmouth’s TE waitlist.

This isn’t a school I know a lot about or that we visited; we applied since it was recommended by her college counselor as a potential good fit. I have to say it feels so good just to have feedback!

Hi. I have lurked and decide to post. D24 has applied to 8 schools. 5 state schools- all accepted (rolling) with some merit money. 2 TE schools (1 EA first choice)and 1 home “export” school.
On 12/23/23 we were award TE for her first choice and in utter shock because they said spring. It is not a school listed here (I have searched).
I appreciate all the posts because I truly felt blind and clueless going through this process. After reading all your posts I felt a little better :grinning:. So thank you all.

My cousin went there. She seemed to like it and I like the area. I have some classmates that live in the town and it seems really cute.

D24 received first acceptance last night, of 10 apps, 4 of which were TE. She got TE (set rate) plus merit to bring COA down to 29. It was nice to get an accept, and the TE at least makes it remotely feasible to go. Still out of range on cost … but nearing the ballpark.

This is my home institution. It is a very nice, nurturing school - not the right fit for my kids (mostly because they wanted to go “away”), but a good fit for many.

S24 denied TE at Seton Hall. :sob: I found this info on the TE website application status section. Several of us were looking at Seton Hall, so check the website!

Did you get an email from them? I am sorry for the denial.

Well my husband just checked and he did get an email from Seton Hall. We got TE! I almost cried in relief as this is the only full tuition one we have received.

Again - I am sorry KateMac. I hope you get it for the other schools your are looking at.

just got an email about 30 minutes ago. They said in the email they had a record number of TE requests, but they didn’t say how many

@Acpurple22 I’m so happy for you!
And it is ok, I figure it will all work out in the end!
