FWIW, Loyola Chicago told me that they consider level of engagement (ie, campus visits, reaching out to admission counselor, etc.). We did all but got denied for TE. Creighton told us the same thing but my DD ended up with an award.
Notified yesterday S was denied at Duquesne, waitlisted at Xavier.
Just an update on Drexelā¦the response to my email was āWe hope to release all decisions for the award by the third week of March.ā
Just venting- GAH! I cannot wait for the Syracuse decisions to come out and so much needs to fall into place- my son has to get in AND get TE. He got into so many great schools that would come out to the same price like Purdue and U Conn with the NE Regional tuition- but he is all about Syracuse. Its crazy to imagine he might end up disappointed after performing honestly so much better than I ever imagined.
Syracuse has a great program kids with learning disabilities can add on and he interviewed with the program twice (not sure why, but they asked so he did) but they have no input into admissions. It was sweet watching him get all prepped for the interviews. U Conn has the same program so it will be great either way but I really want him to go where he wants to.
(also the latest interviewer said the Syracuse decisions were coming out March 15th- not sure if he KNEW or if it was a general thought but a little insight to anyone else waiting)
Similar boat in some ways here. Good luck! We need a combination of acceptance and TE in a case or two, acceptance alone in a few, and so on. Right now about 6 to 8K short on two EA schools, and waiting for eight (8!) RD schools. We canāt end up in the cold, as we can reach on that 8K ⦠but seeing how hard D24 has worked, Iām gonna feel like an absolute ass if something very nice (and affordable) doesnāt land this month. First time in these waters. Her odds seem to be about 80% of landing everything we need, which I suppose aināt bad ⦠but I wish Iād found College Confidential about 8 months earlier. (Or rather, that Iād learned faster.)
My son received his Syracuse decision late March last year. I knew from the start of looking at TE that Syracuse would be a great fit for my son but it was a school I purposefully didnāt talk about with him because I knew his chances for it to be affordable were low. I knew he wanted a bigger school with football and school spirit but I forced him to look at higher TE options with great music programs which happened to be smaller schools. He visited Loyola New Orleans twice and had really high hopes as he LOVES Nola but got denied TE.
Cuse was the only acceptance and financial aid package I honestly cried about when I got the notification. I think my jaw stayed open all night when he not only got in but got TE. I immediately booked a flight and hotel for the last available admitted student event. Once there, I knew he was giving up warm weather dreams (other final schools were Jacksonville U and U of Louisiana-Lafayette). He fell in love with the campus. He bought the sweatshirt and I knew it was his next home. He has totally drank the orange koolaid and is now even a pledge class president of a frat. His grades are solid. He has already matured so much and opening his eyes to a more worldly view.
Best of luck to everyone still waiting! I am pushing for D25 to have some non-TE schools on her list because her gpa is even lower than her brothers and she does not have the music talent he does so I fear her chances are much lower.
This is great. That means you are still in the running
I could almost ditto your post 100%. I am more nervous about getting into Syracuse and then to receive TE on top of that seems nearly impossible. If we donāt get lucky I sure hope others on here do.
Love hearing @2plustrio 's success story from last year. Gives us hope.
I totally feel you here. If I would have been reading CC last year I would have made my daughter look into more full tuition award schools that have a higher percentage that give out. Instead she picked all the set rate and only give a handful of TE awards. What were we thinking?
Really hope it works out for all of us.
Did you get TE and the acceptance at the same time? Just wondering if he gets in, if we have to sit on pins and needles again!
That is a good question. I really hope they come together.
Sorry, I believe TE was a bit delayed.
Same boat, being anxious about 2 decisions for a school is ROUGH. I am staff, so not a high earner so also waiting to see what any kind of non-TE package might look like. The NPC when I used EFCs for schools many looked feasible, but the switch to SAI may have changed that⦠this is just A YEAR, isnāt it?
If you donāt mind, was he admitted to BW and then WL for TE or WL for admission and later awarded TEā¦Or other lol? Our girl was WL for admission to a performing arts program today so weāre holding out hope for both but figure itās slim. Couldnāt believe I just saw your post lol!
My son applied/auditioned as a vocal performance major. He was accepted to BW but then rejected for TE. About a day or so later the TE rejection went to WL. I think it was about a week or so then after that it turned to TE acceptance. He visited, met with a voice teacher, and got free tickets to one of their student performances. He was really impressed with the program but felt the campus and area were just too similar to home and he wanted something different for a few years.
My daughter declined University of Pittsburgh TE and University of Richmond TE. Hopefully this sends them back into the pool to be distributed in a timely manner. I know someone mentioned that Pitt didnāt have a waiting list, but their offer letter specifically mentioned accepting or declining in a timely manner in order to allow others to be considered. So there is hope there is a waitlist!
For people who are declining TE- do you have offers in your studentsā portal or are you just emailing the liason officer?
We want to accept our TE offer but still waiting for something in our portal as we were instructed to doā¦we were told after FAFSA review we would have an offer. I know FAFSA is slowing everyoneās life.
Pitt had a link to accept or decline. It was a form.
Richmond she emailed admissions. I assumed Richmond had already processed that for her, because they offered her a better deal than TE. But we just wanted to be sure.
Weāre on the waitlist for New Haven. That was my kids top choice
Please dont laugh. Anyone know amything about TE at High Point? Site just says less than 10%.
