Tuition Exchange for Fall 2024 (Class of 2028)

Crossing my fingers that it all works out. Twin B is waiting to hear about TE from the school his sibling attends. It’s his top choice because his older brother goes there. It would be so nice for them (not to mention convenient for us) to be together.

did anyone get TE from Tulane? Their admissions and TE process was very frustrating. My daughter is in the 95 percentile of their applicants and they waitlisted her. All I can say is that at least it was a free application. And she actually was interested in the school.

Tulane requires you to fill out FAFSA for all merit awards, TE but also their STAMPS etc. They told us that they were not need based but they required them to be filled out anyway. So definitely getting different stories from different people which is interesting

did you email American? we have not heard anything from them on TE

My son received TE from Tulane.

ETA: We were very surprised. He was initially deferred and sort of wrote it off as not happening because our understanding was that very few people are accepted after being deferred. He was then accepted in RD with a 20k scholarship. Shortly after that we were notified that he was awarded TE, which replaces the 20k. The TE amount is $48,279 and is not stackable.

You can find my student’s stats on the spreadsheet and if you have any questions please feel free to DM me.

I’m sorry, I misunderstood this when I answered you. We didn’t fill out any additional forms for Tulane, which is what I thought you were referring to. We did complete both the FAFSA and the CSS. We do not qualify for need-based aid.

I completed both the FAFSA and the CSS. We have significant equity in our home and a very robust retirement portfolio. Thus far, we have not been encouraged to take out loans of any kind. I’ll update when FinAid info is in.

(My D25 has already said she will not even apply to Cuse where S23 is. However, she did tour nearby LeMoyne and liked it a lot. So it would be nice to have them close at least. S19 lives 3 hrs from home in upper WI).

We toured Tulane with S23 as we were in town touring LoyNO (which is the school he was really interested in-TE denied at LoyNO and he visited twice). Tulane was very open and said about 90% or so of their admissions were from ED and much lower chance of getting in if applied RD.

First off congratulations to your son! I’m sure he is very happy! Tulane is a great school. Our children have similar stats, but my daughter was deferred and waitlisted. Luckily she has been offered the Morehead-Cain at UNC so she is covered and will likely attend there. Just waiting for the TE result from USC . She was admitted EA with no merit though. My brothers attended and she would really like to go. She emailed them but hasn’t heard anything back. But it seems like she will have to accept the Morehead Cain before they release those results. She has a lot of other schools outstanding, but none that will likely give aid. I’m so ready to wrap this whole thing up and put a bow on it LOL. But I have to let her see all her choices first!

Has anyone heard from Syracuse?

We’re waiting on regular decision from Syracuse. I suspect maybe we’ll hear tonight. And I think I read that TE decisions come about 10 days later.

Yes, the Liaison told me to fill out FAFSA which I would not . I applied for TE every year and was denied every time. Very frustrating as TE says that its not need-based.

D24 awarded TE at RIT!

Well, S24 was admitted at Syracuse. No info about TE listed, and no merit listed in the admissions letter.

I think TE for Syracuse comes out pretty quickly. Congrats!

My D was waitlisted for admission at Syracuse. She is pretty bummed. We did show interest and she has good stats so it must be the same old - same old too many great applications.

Oh well everything happens for a reason :sparkling_heart:

Sigh. My child’s stats are nowhere near your child’s! Maybe more to do with particular major and competition within that major?

That said, I also believe our kids will wind up where they are supposed to be.

S24 admitted to Syracuse with $25K merit, no mention of TE. My notes on Syracuse say TE notification follows admission “within 2 weeks.”

I am sure your child is a rockstar just like all of our kids. I am sure Syracuse saw something in his app that spoke to them. You should be very excited! It is a great school.

Yes, I think they all wind up where they should be. In some ways maybe for us it is a blessing in disguise as it is very far away from where we are.

Same- we were waitlisted too. My son did get the travel abroad first semester and admissions second semester if a 3.0 in the program, but that would be full pay so that is not gonna happen.
