Tuition Exchange for Fall 2024 (Class of 2028)

Nope.

I’ll also add that we would not be eligible at all for anything that is need-based. We aren’t wealthy, but by university standards we don’t qualify for that kind of aid.

Is there anything we need to do for CIC (NOT TE) post-acceptance? - Wheaton MA, got approved for the import/export etc in early fall and listed the school then. My colleague that has gone through it is traveling internationally this week so off grid! (anyone? Bueller?)

If you have any equity in your home or have anything in a 401k, you will not qualify for aid based on university standards. Once you complete a FAFSA or worse yet the CSS, the colleges will ā€œmeet 100% of your demonstrate needā€ by telling you to borrow against your home’s equity or your retirement or just take a parent plus loan. I completed the FAFSA because it was easy but I refused to do the CSS because that was like a financial colonoscopy. Too much work just to be told that I don’t qualify.

The CSS is a pain but at the two CSS schools applied to we have received some need based aid (Drexel and Clark). We do have equity in our home and 401Ks.

Have you contacted their TEP liaison? The contact info is listed on the website.

I haven’t yet, because I am not sure if I should!

oh – well that is totally what I would do!

Right…that is pretty much why I was told never to fill out the FAFSA. I am not even sure I have heard of the CSS but I love your use of ā€œfinancial colonoscopyā€ to describe it. So glad my daughter is graduating now. So hard to send off those huge checks every term and not even being able to access her grades.

The CSS has actually been very helpful for us with three (including twins) in college next year at the same time. We don’t qualify for aid through the FAFSA, and now with it no longer counting having multiple children in school, the CSS has been our only hope for aid. We have received some already, and we also have home equity/401ks.

I am so over Tulane and their Liason. I feel like she was so combative to deal with. The Liason at the school that I work at handles these situations so differently.

I went ahead and sent a warm and brief email to see if anything was needed now that she had been admitted.

CSS is saving my family. That and CIC and TE. ā€˜Better FAFSA’ hates us, as we’ll have three kids in college at once.

We did pick. Just waiting for a formal
Offer (TE awarded) to be in her portal. It’s her first choice.

I’m assuming you are talking about a specific university? Because as a blanket statement, this is patently false.

I am so sorry to add another school, but I just realized American isn’t on the list (unless I missed it)- need to put in a rejection

I added American and Ohio Wesleyan (WL for us). I’m crossing my fingers now that the spreadsheet stays intact

We are visiting his 2 current TE awarded choices in April and he will hopefully make a decision that weekend. If he comes off the waitlist at Xavier, all bets are off because his older brother is student there which I know is secretly a big deal to him. So… you are definitely not alone. Also, some of my son’s classmates not involved in TE at all, are still waiting on FA packages from their top choices before they make any decisions.

I heard back from Wheaton, they will be reviewing next week. And after emailing their liaison who appears to be in HR, I heard back from financial services, for whatever that is worth, I would assume that they are looking at the financial picture. I ALSO have told D24 if it’s a no this week it doesn’t mean it’s a no forever, as I’ve seen stories of kids here coming off the waitlists, and I have heard of it from my colleagues as well, plus we have no final financial aid (our SAI is around 7500, the current estimated COA of 27k after federal loans is just not doable for us, unfortunately) but man, it would be so nice to just get a YES and celebrate!
