Casting a wide net is so important. My daughter had exceptionally good results this year, but her sister (with similar stats) only received one TE offer in 2022 (which she took). If I had found this group earlier, I probably would have had her apply to even more TE schools just to be safe. It is hard to predict what admissions is going to do. My D24 did not get TE at 2 of her target schools, and instead got it from a a big reach school. It sometimes seems very random. Glad she applied to all of them. I do agree that the schools should all have Waitlists however. It doesnât make sense not to.
S24 was denies TE at UF. This is the end of the TE journey for us. S24 applied to six TE schools and got it at Case and waitlisted at Syracuse. The rest four are rejections.
When and how did you hear from UF?
Our journey ended as well. My D24 made a last ditch effort for her 1st choice Univ of Richmond to see where she was on the TE waitlist. She was told by the admissions person that it was time to move on bc the pool was very competitive and that it was highly unlikely that they were going to make any offers to people on the TE waitlist. She was sad bc UR was her 1st choice but without TE, that school is unaffordable. She was accepted to Case and got TE as well but declined the offer bc she could not see herself staying in Cleveland for 4 years. That aside it was pretty expensive even with TE. Ultimately, she chose to attend Rollins College where she got the TE. She felt that she could stay there 4 years which is key with TE since you canât bring it with you to another TE school if you transfer. Good luck to you and your family!!!
Rollins is a great school. I never met anyone who was not happy with their experience there. Congratulations.
My student declined his TE offer at Tulane last night. One waiting list spot has just opened up!
We still havenât heard about CIC tuition for my D24s top choice. The general financial aid offer is really good, the gap of 10k is not insignificant but also seems not insurmountable. I am hoping to talk to financial aid when we do admitted students day on Friday to find out where we stand, if there is a possibility to apply for years 2-4, or if there is any other way to close the gap. (our situation is a B student, SAI of 7500 that will actually go down with 2023 numbers, 17 year career at my school that doesnât offer the major she wants.) Iâd love to know if anyone else has been in this situation and how it worked out.
My S21 wanted to go to Rollins; he got in but did not get TE there, and so that was that. It is such a beautiful campus!
We have not heard from U Dayton yet either.
MyD24 got into all those schools except UF (which she didnât apply for) but she was denied TE for all of them.
Thank you, did you enter her results on the spread sheet? I am wondering how many are offered TE from GWU
I ended up reaching out to the TE Liaison at GW. They told me they had over 400 applications for 15 spots, and put together a waitlist of 30. He also was kind enough to let me know that we are way down on the waitlist. So, I am not holding out any hope of getting an offer and will need to encourage my student to move on.
That is a huge amount of applications! Crazy.
tuition exchange sent an email notification to my work email
CIC update - very surprised that she was awarded the waiver at Lesley! CIC does not have a portal like TE, but the email was sent to her directly and the admissions director at my school (who is our liaison) was CCed. I did not get an email.
This is not her top choice - but would put it above CC on the list, and her heart is really at Wheaton, so I am hoping that one comes through or we can close the gap⊠but really hard to ignore free tuition anywhere.
I really didnât expect it based on their criteria, and the percentage figure I found on the TE website (which, although we donât use it, I had assumed those numbers might have some bearing on how the more opaque CIC process is!) - I think I posted way back on what their process is.
Do you get to apply to an unlimited number of TE schools? My husbandâs institution says our dependents can only apply to 10 TE schools.
As far as I know. But she only applied to 4 CIC schools. (UNE - rejected, Endicott, waitlisted, Wheaton and Lesley accepted.) We also had ROger Williams and Curry on the list but she ended up not applying to those ones. CIC is a smaller list than TE.
Also - we arenât a TE school, but I do look to the TE site for intel, and another reason I wasnât expecting Lesley is they are a âbelow 10%â school and do full tuition (even for TE.) Wheaton is 41-60 and is âother tuitionâ so I assume for that program it is a set rate? (CIC is full tuition only.)
And while I was there, both schools showed decisions by April 15, 2024, so I am assuming weâll hear from Wheaton by then.
We have been told different things at different times. When my D22 applied they had a form we had to fill out that only had 6 spots on it. Someone told my husband that we were limited to those 6. We found out later that we were not limited to 6 and could have applied to as many as we wanted. D24 ended up only applying to 6 again by chance.
We were not limited, though my S24 only applied to 7 TE schools. A child of one of my colleagues applied to 13.
