Tuition Exchange for Fall 2025 (Class of 2029)

No news yet here. No rejections though, so that’s one way to look at things. Like other posters - not sure how much we want to show our hand before the TE awards come out. Still waiting on the two most difficult (lowest chance) decisions. If S25 gets accepted, he certainly won’t get TE - so I’m trying to steer his enthusiasm for the schools where it is more likely. So far it seems to be working!!

So far our experience has been that decision came out about a week or two after the TE website switched to “import decision pending”.

Interesting. D25’s have been on “import decision pending” since just after she submitted applications, which was months ago.

My son just was awarded TE at Hobart and William Smith in his EA acceptance letter. It’s the first TE so far, though he got equivalent merit at Beloit. We are still waiting to hear from Ithaca College before he makes his final decision.

Congrats to your son. It sounds like he has at least two good choices so far. Does he have a preference?

I think he’s leaning toward Beloit, but we haven’t visited the NY schools yet so that may change in March after we do. He’s also a finalist for a Premier Scholarship at Millsaps College so that is a factor. it’s a very small honors program and I think if he gets it he will commit there. HWS is still expensive even after the TE and that’s a real factor for us. Beloit has a lower cost for the room/board and it makes a real difference. My older daughter is at Mount Holyoke on TE and loves it but it’s a real balancing act with two tuitions to pay for! Those midwestern schools are way more affordable, though to be fair, the winter is daunting for a New Orleans kid.

That is a big geographic range!

I wish TE actually meant tuition, full tuition, and not just a portion.

It does for many schools, just not all, unfortunately. We were planning to go the TE route this year for S25, and the only schools we were considering were ones that offer full tuition.

Yes, he’s only interested in small liberal arts colleges with fewer that 1000 people, and those are few and far between, so. we’ve cast a pretty wide net!

Exciting! My daughter got that from Scranton for nursing in 2023! She ultimately chose Fairfield U (2 FACHEX awards!), but both have great nursing programs! Congrats!

Congrats. That’s awesome news!

It is pretty frigid today at HWS, Mount Holyoke, and Beloit. If I were betting, I’d bet Beloit is the best prepared for the cold

This is what ours has been too. Simmons is the only outlier, with “Under Review”.

This was part of how we searched, too. The three non full tuition ones come out to $3K-$4K tuition after the set rate.

True! I think our campus visits in February will let him know if he can take it. My daughter at MHC seems to have adjusted just fine.

It’s good to see them in the winter so he isn’t too shocked at the reality. At least they are all kind of small campuses so he won’t we walking too far between buildings in the cold. I saw on the HWS IG account that they are sending admitted students scarves. Appropriate! My D25 is going there for the admitted student thing in Feb. because we are nearby. One of her other TE schools, Muhlenberg, doesn’t seem to have anything until later.

You must be talking about Syracuse? That was my daughter’s top choice last year and she got the leadership scholarship and waitlisted for TE. It made no sense. Also in the honors program and good alumni connection but TE never budged. She ended up getting TE that covered full tuition at another school that was likely a better fit.

My son has applied to 4 TE and my place of employment. Very skeptical he will get TE and really don’t think my poe is the right fit. He did all regular decision… I begged him to do early action. My daughter did everything early last year and she got lots of merit everywhere. My son definitely does not have the same credentials. #veryworried

We actually have 4 inches of snow on the ground here in New Orleans with another 4 projected, which is insane for us. I made him walk to his friend’s house a few blocks away and told him this was a very small sample of what to expect!
