Waitlisted for TE at Lindenwood. She toured U of Indianapolis and really liked the people, the programs, and the support there but ultimately did not like the surrounding area as much. Elmhurst and U of Scranton did not have her first choice major. She feels Wayne State U is too urban for her.
D25 TE journey has ended. She is committed to a non TE university that is a better fit for her career goals and just overall vibe (safety, diversity, campus size, surrounding area, sports, dance, etc). Overall total COA is less than 24k a year. I feel relieved that I don’t have to worry about sending her to a school on TE and having the award possibly revoked a year or two down the road due to budget cuts.
Congratulations to your daughter! Awesome to hear you and your daughter found a college that is a perfect fit for her. My daughter and I are currently trying to decide on a college. She is between Duquesne (denied TE there) and a non-TE school. My spouse and I decided that we will let our daughter choose her ideal school and will make it work. We submitted a financial appeal to Duquesne so fingers crossed we receive more aid!
I was wondering about some of the budget crisis in higher education - could they actually cut TE of the students who already have it? I was thinking they could cut TE for new students (like how Villanova just didn’t do it one year), but I didn’t think they could pull your TE scholarship once you have it? That makes me nervous!
It sounds like your daughter has made a really good choice. It must feel good to have found a fit that is also financially doable for your family. Now you can focus on senior milestones, quality time with her before she goes, and getting excited about what comes next.
My daughter has three TE offers (Duquesne, St Joe’s and Suffolk) and is 95% turning down Suffolk this week. We have to visit St Joe’s next week, and then she will make the call and I hope we will have a decision and free up wait list spots. I’m betting it will be Duquesne.
Those are a wonderful 3 TE offers! I bet your daughter worked so hard to have received them. Duquesne is a great school with an incredible location! Best of luck to her on where she decides to go!
This is my thought as well but I just don’t trust that it won’t happen either. Or that full tuition drops to set rate in the future or whatever. The schools she got TE at were just too pricey to make that gamble right now considering they did not have all she needed in a college anyways.
Yeah, I know Boston University TE is a longshot. But we figured it’s worth waiting to hear, even if chances are very slim, since my kid really liked BU. I saw BU regular decision comes out March 22, but I’m guessing TE will be after that.
Last year UD announced around April 1st. Last year they received 300 applications and gave 20 TE awards. My D24 loves it! We are very thankful for TE at UD as it is full tuition.
