Tuition Exchange for Fall 2025 (Class of 2029)

We had no more time to wait and didn’t even wait to hear from a couple before accepting the TE and flight slot offer at hand (which we are very grateful for) as we could not wait any longer. For flight training, they usually have deadlines way before TE deadlines as resources are scarce (aircraft, flight instructors, time slots, etc.) and it is very competitive to get a flight slot, which is separate from the admission decision/acceptance. Not to mention, you miss out on preferred housing etc. But - best of luck to you and everyone waiting, I hope you get a positive decision VERY soon!

Having twins going through this process was a rollercoaster ride and in the end, both are thrilled with their choices.

Student one
Seton Hall TE
John Carroll TE
Niagara University TE
Iona (have not heard but after visiting, was not a top choice)
Xavier (committed) TE
Monmouth (waitlisted)

Student two
Mercyhurst TE
St. Joe’s (committed) TE
Indianapolis TE
Gannon (waitlisted)
Merrimack TE with Honors
Robert Morris (very generous, merit scholarship plus TE)
Duquesne (was a top choice but no TE).

Accepted to Tulane in January. Heard we got TE on March 11. COA will be 21KTuition + 18K Room&Board - about $40K each year with the $50K Set Rate. No Stacking. Definitely not an easy decision.

I can imagine. Congratulations for their several TEs and commitments! Found this was cool because my son received TE at Xavier and will be committing there if no TE at St Joes or DePaul! Stinks that Xavier has the 10% fee!

My ex, who my kids get TE thru, is on the committee to revamp some of the TE data presentation/communication. I’ve given him feedback from our message boards.

Duquesne does too.

That’s excellent!

What are these fees? I’ve never seen those before.

Some schools require an annual enrollment fee. For example on Xavier University’s TE (on TE website) at the very bottom it says:

Enrollment Fees

An Annual TE processing fee of $5041 is required for every enrolled import applicant.

With DePaul’s TE coming out tomorrow, my son is hopeful that he will commit someplace soon! If no TE at DePaul, we will reach out to St Joes to ask where he stands on the waitlist. If he is at the bottom of the waitlist, he will likely commit to Xavier (received TE). It’s a great school for his major and he really likes the campus! Xavier’s fee is annoying and TE doesn’t cover off campus/study abroad semester like DePaul and St Joes does (he is hoping to study abroad sometime during college).

$5041 a year? Wow!

Yeah, Duquesne is $3850.

So odd. The optics of it seem to me avoidable. Some schools offer neither full nor set rate (which can also be seen as a “full tuition + processing fee = difference between full and set” but rather “other” tuition. For instance, Loyola Chicago’s TE offer used to be “90% of tuition”. Since tuition there is about 50K, essentially they get the same 5k “fee” that Xavier does. But the packaging feel of “5k after other tuition” and the feel of “5k after processing fee” are quite different.

In the end, it doesn’t matter - Xavier is a good school (as is Duquesne). I’m just curious why they would choose the “5k fee” route vs another way (the “other tuition”) where it doesn’t feel like you’re being “charged” for something.

For those of you on the waiting list at Duquesne, after three trips to various cities, several TE awards, and an extremely stressful decision making process, my DD25 is staying “home” (will live in dorms) in Chicago and attending DePaul (our home school, which I absolutely love for her, but would have loved anywhere else too). We will be turning down Duquesne tonight or tomorrow! (no fooling, the date just happens to be 4/1).

I have one more kid for college in three years… thank goodness there’s a break!

Congrats on a decision made! Since DePaul is your home school, we hope that the TE slots are still in play. ; )
I’ll see you back here in 3 years for our next kid!!

They should be! That kid is totally different from the first two, too. Possible athletics in play (ugh)

University of Florida, anyone heard regarding TE ? Any updates in portals or email notifications of awarding TE? Waiting…

Any insight on Wait List / Alternates? My son has received FACHEX (jesuit TEP) at some schools but got wait listed at some of his fav’s. Can you ask where you are on that list? How do you manage May 1 deadline (and deposits), let alone other enrollment/ res life/ orientation steps? Thanks for anyone that has experience with the wait list process, esp. FACHEX.

I second this question- especially about Syracuse. Is there ever any movement on the WL?

Does anyone know- if the portal changes to “import approved” does that mean that the TE will definitely be awarded? My son has a school that switched to this in the portal, but we have not heard anything from the school. Thanks!
