UC Irvine Class of 2029 Official Thread

Yep, our “kids” are independent adults when it comes to their data/records, but not when it comes to their financial aid status.

Funny how that works, eh?

how about UCR? Didnt apply?

What is odd is on zot aid site it has that document as pending which implies it is a
Required as a part of processing financial aid, which I can’t imagine to be true. But may just fill it out anyways to clear it!

The congrats email from UCI mentioned 149,650 applicants this year, with the exact quote as below.
“Your accomplishments shone brightly among a record-breaking number of applicants this year (149,650 to be exact). We are proud to call you a future UC Irvine Anteater!”

My daughter got regents scholar today (or did she just miss it when reading the acceptance on Friday?). She’s now having mixed feelings.

It was a bit hidden - a link below the acceptance letter. My daughter didn’t notice her Regents letter until the next day. Congrats!

UCI Results Survey 2025:

This form is for tracking decision results, so it’s all centralized for future students. If you could fill this out once you get your decision, that would be very appreciated!

You can see all other people’s individual responses in the links above, along with overall form statistics (such as what percent got accepted).

My son wasn’t interested in UCR. He decided that CC to a UC on his list was plan B if he didn’t get accepted. Same with OOS, he wanted coastal UC or CSU.

Did any other admits in the Bay Area receive an invite to a “New Anteater” reception in San Jose on March 30th?

My D25 just received an invite today but couldn’t RSVP because it was too late. I don’t think we received one previously by mail or e-mail, so this was a surprise.

We may end up going to the April 19th Celebrate UCI anyways, but still planning for that.

More likely they did not open the registration yet. Maybe try in a couple of hours.

Possibly, although the web site says “deadline has passed”. Today was the first wind we caught of it!

Agree there are 3 timeslots, my thinking was that it is unlikely all of them filled up. I am treating it as a warning about navigating the UC system and enrolling in classes!

They just did it in the pnw yesterday. We received texts last week giving heads up as well since the timing was so close to when they released decisions. I bet tomorrow you will be able to rsvp.

Does your son surf?

good guess! yes and he loves beach VB so UCSC has those covered better than most others. 4 year varsity starter, 3 sport athlete (indoor VB, beach VB and surf team).

Also re: my post about S25 wishing he had taken easier math. His friend at the same school who took all the same hard math classes and even more rigorous AP physics got an UW 4.0 in the most rigorous classes offered at a top HS… he applied engineering and was rejected at UCSD, UCI, UCSB, UCLA, wait listed SDSU and accepted to UCSC. He had good ECs and a solid kid that is just plain smart and will be very successful, shame that he can’t get admitted to most UCs.

More than a guess - the story resonated personally, and only a surfer has that hard core commitment to the ocean and prioritizes it in college decisions  Your son has the M.O. A long time ago, I selected UCSD over other schools, strictly for the surf. It turns out it also had/has excellent biosciences. I even convinced my high school surf buddy / tennis partner to pass over acceptance to Berkeley engineering and go to UCSD instead, for the surf. It was an easy sell - he never hesitated. Many, many good times surfing north county, blacks, and northern baja in college. I grew up in SLO (which of course has surf and beach volleyball at Pismo), but Cal Poly was too close to home and didn’t have the status it has today (which perplexes me, as a local). Don’t worry, surfers who can get into and do well in solid universities do ok, even with the obsession

All I say about your son’s friend is ‘wow’. I find that so unfortunate!
