is that UC capped weighted GPA even possible? I thought the max was 4.4?
Sorry, I wasn’t sure about it. Then, it’s probably 4.4. I have to check with my son about that!
Got the UCSB regents mail yesterday morning, then they cancelled my online registration saying it is “by invite only.” Called them, they didn’t know… Updates when I have them.
Did you get the invitation through mail?
yes… the letter came dated feb 24.
Are you living near one of the area where meetings are going to happen? If you are not living near one of the places then they might cancel your registration.
About an hour from San Jose… I will call them tomorrow and check.
Did you get Regents or did you get chancellor’s invite?
Wow. Thats pretty amateurish. I wonder if they got bunch of people randomly registering through the completely opened registration link and cancelled some wrong ones accidentally
Chancellor’s Invite in the mail
I wouldn’t be surprised, but why is it open to everyone in the first place? Berkeley was much better.
S received invite today. He just registered. We are in Los Angeles county.
Last year, the site accepted everyone’s attempt to RSVP but the UCSB later sent an email cancelling the RSVP for those who weren’t invited.
Quite annoying…
I agree
So mine just got an email on top of a mailed letter.
Meanwhile my older son who got regents at UCSB a couple of years ago never received this invite. So bizarre.
Last year my son got the invite to the Chancellor’s Reception (and was a Regents recipient as well) and this year he’s a first year ChemE at UCSB! It’s a great fit for my son and he’s very happy with his choice. They try to keep first year ChemE’s to 50-55 students. This year there are 53 first years in ChemE.
Does he get priority registration with regents?
I know you get that if you are in CCS, but I am not sure if regents alone gets you that privilege.
Did they have Chancellor receptions then? They cancelled in 2020 and I don’t think they started up again until last year.
No, Regents scholars do not get priority registration at UCSB. Comparing UC Honors Programs and Regents Scholarships
