UCLA Class of 2028 Official Thread

Thanks for the info. Did they say when they’d be processing the CARs/when students can expect to hear?

I believe they said they would start processing and making decisions throughout late July and into August, but they couldn’t give a specific date.

The Deluxe triple in Sproul Cove & Landing is decent option if double is not available. The Sproul Cove & Landing is our 2nd preference.

I see. Rumor has it that many freshman select doubles as their top choice. My son knew he’d end up in a triple either way so he selected a plaza triple with his first choice and that’s what he got. He thinks by not selecting a double with his top choice, it helped him. I have no idea how true that is.

Mine will be a sophomore and still in a triple. All doubles were done long before his time slip for registration.

This is actually very smart.

Anyone digged into UCSHIP? Is it beneficial to enroll UCSHIP or opt out? How UCSHIP can be used for out of UC network? Does UCSHIP cover Dental/Eye (like tooth cleaning, eyewear)? Thanks!

Some clinics in Westwood will accept UC SHIP for Dental/Eye, but you should look more in to this. If you have good health insurance where the Ronald Reagan Medical Center is in-network, then there is little benefit to UC SHIP. The main benefits that UC SHIP can provide over your own health care are low-cost access to the Ashe Center clinic (for minor things like vaccines, STD tests, X-rays, etc.) and CAPS (Counseling And Psychological Services).

I’m going to be a junior and I’ll STILL have a triple…

Though I did pass up on some available classic doubles

Could you explaine the reasons why you still chose triple? Double doesn’t cost much more than triple, am I wrong?

Where I can find the providers who accept UCSHIP for tooth/eye exam? Thanks!

Here:

But Bruin Care is much cheaper as a way to access the Ashe Center (not CAPS) if your existing health insurance is adequate to waive UCSHIP:

We waived it every year. We did think harder about Bruin Care but in the end decided it was unnecessary (S saw a doctor during term time once in 4 years other than COVID testing which was free anyway).

I got off the waitlist and submitted my housing app around a week ago. I put my two friends (regular admit and admit off waitlist) in my roommate group and they already received their assignment (Sproul). How popular is Sproul and how likely is it that they assign me Sproul as well. Please:pray::pray:

Agree, I’ve waived it and it was definitely better than buying UC SHIP. Would strongly recommend waiving if possible.

All of the doubles were taken in every dorm type (plaza, deluxe, suite) other than classic, and as rising third years, being in a classic dorm loses its allure.

Since you’re rising junior, you’re the best resource to answer the following questions. The AC is not needed at all or nice to have?

Another quick question: If student takes GE at CC in the summer, will letter grades earned at CC count toward cumulative gpa and total credits for graduation?

Thanks!

The AC is not needed at all or nice to have?

AC is not needed in West LA. It does not get warm until summer (worst is high 70s low 80s during June in the end of spring quarter) except for September, right when school starts. Then, you just sleep with fewer sheets on and it is fine.

will letter grades earned at CC count toward cumulative gpa

no

and total credits for graduation

yes

I got off waitlist recently, and submitted my housing app around a week ago, what are the chances that I get assigned with my two friends who already have housing assignment in Sproul Hall

Also, what’s the most popular classic dorm building? From most popular to least. In case I don’t get asssigned Sproul and want to switch
