This is just my opinion so take it with a grain of salt, but I think of the UCs as 3 tiers and admittance in tier 2 is totally random and/or has so many factors involved it’s hard to compare students or predict outcomes due to different majors/stats, etc. Getting acceptance/waitlist/rejection especially in tier 2 is not necessarily an indication of how strong an applicant is or how competitive the school is. All the schools are great. Students should choose based on fit and desired program availability and not necessarily the “ranking”:
Good luck to everyone today. My daughter didn’t get the acceptance she was looking for last year when decisions came out. But she did a few weeks later when she was accepted off the waitlist. You never know that path that will present itself. Keep the faith!
But back in it again next year with my youngest daughter. I know what a stressful journey it is for all these kids. Hoping everyone ends up where they’re supposed to be.
Same here. D25 is trying to keep up her naturally lowkey nature, but super nervous as she is UCLA do or die. Our D21 is finishing up there and loves it. I’m super nervous and hard to concentrate on work, tbh.
It would be very interesting if anyone has info on that. In prior years, some have mentioned very low stats getting the supplemental questionnaire, but never followed up to let the group know what happened. I heard it is a very low percentage who get the supplemental info thing. Data on how many of those actually got in probaby doesn’t exist
We are really blessed here in Cali with the UCs, CSUs, and CCCs. They are collectively the best public colleges and universities in the world, and still affordable.
Two years ago, my friend’s daughter rejected by all the UCs she applied before UCB accepted her at the “very end” of March. It was a very emotional moment. Keep the hope up!!
That’s what happened to my daughter 2 years ago except she was waitlisted at all the UCs she applied to (did not apply to Riverside, SC, Merced), rejected at UCLA, but accepted to Berkeley. So yes, you never know…
You mean “low stats” as far as a low percentage of applicants getting the supplemental request? D25 stats are competitive (but it’s UCLA, so who knows what will happen).
Hey!! Good luck everyone, I hope you all get great news tonight
I didn’t apply, but my sister did and it’s been her dream school for a long time. I’ve been trying to think of what I’d want to hear if I was rejected/waitlisted, but I don’t have a dream school so I can’t really put myself in that place accurately. Does anyone have any ideas of what I could say / what they would want to hear if they were rejected from their top school? I really don’t want to mess up and make it worse:,)
