UCLA Class of 2029 Official Thread

I do not know if the email is automated, but it went to everyone.

My S25 did not receive it, fwiw.

Some students opt out of this type of communication when submitting their application. Could your son have done that?

LOL…judging from the daily emails from UCM I doubt it! :joy:

But maybe…I’ll ask

I seem to recall a section asking if my son wanted to be considered for different scholarships and there were a lot of questions about ethnicity, demographics, alumni associations, field of study etc. If I had to guess, the results of those questions were forwarded to the organizations providing scholarships and that was determined who got the email. Just a guess though…

Seems about right; you had to check those to probably get the scholarship email. Bottom line, zero bearing on admissions :face_exhaling:

That’s right! He says he did not check any of them. :+1:

Scholarship application is asking for what other schools you’ve applied to/been accepted to. I know they say it won’t affect chances, but for what reasons are they trying to gauge this?

Were all the scholarship emails addressed to the person? Or does it say scholarship applicant?

That is bizarre.

Means nothing. My son who is attending UCLA didn’t get that email when he was applying. His brother who applied, got the email.

My son’s email says: Dear (name of the student). But I think it doesn’t really mean anything…

Same here. Don’t think it means anything and my D25 won’t be doing anything about it.

Another question: my daughter received a letter from UC applications urging her to apply for financial aid. I’m assuming it’s a mass email but the reason I am concerned is that she completed her FAFSA months ago. Does this mean they didn’t receive it?

It is a mass email reminder since the March 2 FAFSA deadline is approaching.

This is a great question.

Are you from California? We just got a message that CalGrant applications were due March 3rd.

We are from California but did not receive anything about CalGrant. It was just a general email about applying to financial aid, which we already did.

Our college counselor sent it out to everyone at our California high school

That’s nice! The college counselor at my daughter’s school only communicates with the students. I will ask if anything was received, although I don’t believe we qualify.
