The holistic review considers far more than class rank. Countless valedictorians apply to elite colleges. What distinguishes them from the rest of the valedictorians who are applying?
I think you have a great shot - in state, well rounded, can contribute to your school community, and you already have family there.
Yeah, I think itāll be easier just worried about how much because I really would not mind doing it and would probably like it. I have 1470 and 4.0 uw so hoping they consider me for it before possibly waitlisting/rejecting me.
Glad to hear this! I have a similar kid - 4.42 GPA, 10 AP classes, captain of sport and longevity in club version of it, coach, did submit a 33 ACT, top 10% of class, in state wrote compelling, well written essays. And sheās still sweating it. Kids are a wreck this week!
Did anyone apply to early assurance health care policy and management, or biostats? I selected these instead of a major as OOS and im wondering how hard it is to get in thru this major. Health policy was my number one choice
Are intended majors a heavy factor in decisions for admission? I am out of state and very nervous about getting in, but the major Iāve applied for isnāt one of their most popular. I donāt know if I should feel safer as a result of that though.
Yes, but in state for UNC is a 40% admit rate, so not like the elite level of oos, and itās generally considered if youāre in the top 10% of the class, youāll likely get in. Their common data set certainly says GPA and class rank are highly important. This school is a mile from UNC and there are 40+ valedictorians each year, so my guess is they didnāt compare well to them. They were offered guaranteed admittance the next year for a transfer, which is also strange.
This is my first kid, completely clueless here. Does anyone know how Granville Towers works if your kid gets accepted? Can you put a deposit down immediately or do you need to show enrollment first? Also, how does UNCās on-campus housing for freshmen work? Is it based on the enrollment deposit date? or application date?
It is more common that you might think. A lot of schools have a counselor mailing list or the counselors have great relationships with the AOs and can get inside info when they will come out.
All that ā plus sometimes they schedule meetings to present general information to help counselors see data points and trends from that particular admissions group.
