It’s on the letter (2nd paragraph) but also listed in the portal. Under Recent Activities there is a Scholarship Awards section

Thought I had posted, but apparently not. D25 accepted OOS with Classic Scholarship. 34 ACT, 4 APs completed 3 more in process. A number of DE classes. Good luck to everyone.

Son accepted OOS. He attends a small private school (108 kids in his grade) STATS: 4.0 uw/1480 SAT, 3 AP’s junior year (5’s on AB Calc and Spanish, 4 on English) and 4 senior year (which is the most his school let’s them take.) Captain of soccer team, lots of other EC’s, many awards (academic, art, writing, all-state in soccer etc.). Very exciting!

Hi I just wanted to share my sons stats for acceptance, maybe it will help someone in future. He was accepted In State for UGA EA.
GPA 4.3
APs 9 (5 senior year; other core classes were honors).
SAT 1510
Elective: Marching Band, Varsity Swim, Orchestra, NHS. That’s pretty much it. He did few things but did them consistently all four years with leadership positions senior year.
Top 5 rank in class (smaller private school about 150 seniors).
Accepted to Franklin Arts & Sciences as Undecided. No Honors College admission (his friend w/ slightly more APs and a slightly higher SAT did get in honors college; that seems to be around 1530 to get in from what we can tell).

He worked insanely hard to get that SAT score (took the test 5 times) so we are really proud of him. He is waiting on the Tech EA results today.

scholarships and honors are 2 separate things, awarded by different bodies- can have either one without the other.

our daughter is in her 2nd year at UGA- she was admitted OOS EA and got that classic scholarship, but was not an auto admit to honors college. she did apply to the HC and got it later.

she is thriving at UGA. and probably would be even without the Honors college, although the early registration for classes is nice.

Same. My daughter is manically thinking of all the things she can do for an acceptance. I feel like it’s best to be very pessimistic.

I read somewhere that UGA is not direct admit into the Terry Business School, however my son’s acceptance says he was admitted into the business school with an intended major of finance. I understand that he will need to apply into that major, but does he also need to apply to the business school? Just trying to understand how that works.

I did some research on this today as well. Looks like one needs to apply to a Terry major after the freshman year, unless you are in the Honors College. Here is a link:

Did you check the status of his Honors College application today? There may have been an update after the OOS admission results were announced.

Best of luck with Tech!! I have two GT and one UGA - both amazing schools!

You still have to apply if in Honors College. If you are in good standing with 3.5 or higher you will get your first choice selection.

So admission is just based on GPA if one is in Honors, not subject matter exam?

Yes, he will need to apply. That is just his intended major. Terry requires a separate admission. I’ve got a finance major and if that is what he settles on they will look at his GPA and core Terry classes (not his total GPA), his ACT/SAT score and his score on the accounting admission test. Highly recommend taking that immediately after you finish accounting 1 even if that means you stay a few days later.

Also, highly recommend paying for Skoolers for accounting. Accounting is a weed out class and often test scores are in the D range. There are videos and packets that reinforce the classroom stuff, and kids that do this tend to do a lot better. There are some kids who just “get” accounting but that is not the majority! There are also a lot of accounting labs and resources to take advantage of. My advice would be to investigate those and let your kid know about them at the beginning of the semester. My kid was scrambling!

Not sure what you mean about subject matter exam. If you are in honors, you have to have a 3.5 or higher to be in “good standing” If you are in good standing you get your first choice admission into Terry.
