University of Georgia Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Keep in mind that those a minimum requirements. Non honors college students need a very high college GPA to get into some of the most comptitive majors like MIS and Finance.

I will also add this link. It is listed under transfer admissions but it applies to everyone. It is a list of high demand majors that require additional admissions once enrolled at UGA.

Did they not read supplementals and look at activities/recs for this round at all? Because the blog said that if you are deferred they just want time to read all that.

Right. Honors college kids are the only ones with an auto in if good standing.

They did for many many students. For those below a certain academic cut off they are waiting for fall grades.

It specifically says they want to read their supplements and look at their activities.

Right. And they do that in EA also above a certain academic level. From what they have said on the blog and comments, it appears that there are four levels of review.

First level, kids with high grades and scores. Small group, but they are admitted automatically on academics without review of entire file. My guess is one of my kids was in this group - 4.0 GPA unweighted, 11 APs, 34 ACT, top 5 in class, auto admit to honors.

The next group down is much larger and has great grades and scores, but gets a review of their entire file. My guess is another of my UGA EA admits was in this group. 4.0 unweighted, 7 APs, 35 ACT, no honors auto admit.

The group after this is not admitted EA, They are deferred because they are a little weaker academically and don’t necessarily get a file review at this point. The feeling is that fall grades might help some of them. File review comes before RD.

And then the final fourth category are kids that are not academically competitive and are denied.

If you calculate your kids UGA GPA it may very well tell you what bucket they fall in.

I think this process lets them navigate through tens of thousands of applications pretty efficiently.

What do you mean by, “File review before RD”?

Kids who are deferred EA will get a full file review with fall grades before decisions in March.

I meant the accounting admission test. Sounds like someone applying from the Honors college just needs a 3.5 GPA and doesn’t have to take any test?

Deferred.

My child was admitted out of state. Can anyone help me understand the housing process? Is the deposit able to be paid right away? Thanks in advance!

I came on to ask a housing question, also. My understanding is that the housing portal will open on Monday, Dec 9, and you can pay the $35 housing deposit without paying the enrollment deposit. Does anyone know what time the housing portal will open on Monday?

Wow!! Congratulations!!
