Yes, that’s what a double with meal plan in the campus dorms cost us last year.
If they go to apartments off campus or a group house, and cook, then may cost more, especially if the lease is year round.
There may be some less expensive group houses, but then there may be more cost in time taking the shittle bus or paying for parking.
We’re in the same boat. Counselor has sent the recs/transcript TWICE now and it still says incomplete. Will have them call ASAP on Monday if it hasn’t updated over the weekend. Strange.

D25 submitted app and school submitted all documents on 10/22. Portal still shows incomplete. I called admissions on Friday and they couldn’t have been nicer. They wouldn’t confirm if the file is “complete” but they confirmed every document that they received and also confirmed that no separate transcript would be necessary for the dual enrollment that she is currently taking at her high school and which is listed on her high school transcript. I would still like to see the portal update before 11/1 but I do feel confident that they received everything last week

I don’t think it’s too far off. SCC which is a public private partnership that is popular with juniors and seniors at UMD is about 12k. You don’t have to buy a meal plan. My daughter shops at the Trader Joe’s which has astronomical prices yet even with that and eating out it’s probably not more than 6k per year.
True off campus apartments are more. However if you stay in SCC without campus meal plan it’s probably 17-18k for lodging/food.
At newer / renovated apartments like Tempo or University View you may find deals for around $850/mo but some like Tempo are not right next campus.
The cheapest rentals in College Park might be even cheaper but you may have to deal with bad landlords and cram a lot of people into a house.

F/U here - counselor called and they confirmed they have everything and it just has not been paired with application yet. It will not affect the Nov 1 deadline, even if it is not updated on his portal by Nov 1. They said they are very behind in getting applications updated. Hope this helps ease other people’s minds if they are in the same boat as we were. Applied 10/1 for reference and recs and transcript sent twice.
For anyone who has submitted application with teacher recommend letter and transcript and get status “incomplete” in TAP portal, and teacher recommend letter and transcript didn’t show up in TAP portal, you may wait to next Monday morning to see if the status will be updated to “complete”, otherwise you can call admission office.
Obviously TAP portal is only scheduled to be updated on the weekend, here is our experience : submitted from common app on Oct 23, TAP shows status “Incomplete”, we saw there was no teacher recommend letter and transcript in TAP, this morning I saw the status “complete” in TAP

My son is at Terrapin Row and pays about 1100 a month for rent/utilities, for food I’d say he probably pays another 150ish a month. He got a costco membership so that helps on the cost.
Admissions office can check if documents were received even if they have not been synced up with the application. I tried calling couple of times before we could get someone to help out
We are still waiting for teacher to submit letter of recommendation. She assured was working on it and would submit by deadline but I do not like leaving it so close to deadline since technical issues do happen. But there’s not much we can do unfortunately.
Thanks for this - having a stress attack that my kid’s app says incomplete and we have no idea how to resubmit through CommonApp. We will try to be patient. (did submit a service request, though).
My S25 applied on common app just shy of a couple weeks ago and still doesn’t have a portal login. Anyone in the same boat? Is that normal?
No that’s not normal. Check your junk/spam folder, and if not there then call the admissions office.
Ugh. I’ll have my S25 check his email spam when he gets home from school.
