University of Michigan Ann Arbor Early Action Fall 2024

OOS, liberal arts/political science/pre-law (whichever is applicable at UM; not sure)

Michigan only takes unweighted GPA. If all As then 4.0. Knowing how many students were accepted is a major key to helping you. But OOS seems to be harder as a get. They don’t count legacy anymore. Knowing the Aps helps since Michigan is all about rigor of classes and GPA. You will know soon and many won’t find out till April. Hold on for a long ride.

Thank you - that’s very helpful! I only mentioned legacy because it was a question on the app (even asked for graduation year). APs wee Bio, Chem, US History , Euro History, French, English, lit. i thought her ACT would count for more.

On the common data set for Michigan they claim legacy isn’t considered. We see lots of students in the last few years not accepted with legacy even when a sibling is currently attending. But of course the opposite is true as well. If they reverted back and did consider it, it was only siblings and parents.

Your are compared to your own school /system. That is why knowing who gets accepted is important. The recommendations from teachers and essays are also since character of the student is highly important. Her grades /Act are great. There will most likely be close to 60,000 early acceptance applications. Many with a similar profile. This is why chancing is hard to do. So many qualified applicants.

Good Luck.

Totally understand. As for her own school - last year’s valedictorian got rejected & we don’t know of ANY other applicants in her class. She has great recs & strong (but not perfect) essays. We shall see.

Thank you!

Many Vals get rejected. Also many get accepted but ya never hear about those. Lol. I think Michigan wants to make sure you want to be there and not trying to use them as a safety. Many don’t fill out the Loci after being postponed or just drop out after that. Many schools will want another short essay. They say it’s optional but not really. Great way to show you still want/plan/interest to attend. It’s almost here. So first phase (EA) will be over with.

Any idea when EA decisions came out last year? Any idea what day and time to expect decisions this year? Very anxious!

The consensus is they will announce Jan 26. They announced Jan 27th last year.

A bit of the portal astrology for you all. Did your portal turn dark yesterday? (was blue before) Based on last year’s thread (list below), we could see result this Friday!
The post was posted on Monday 23rd, 2023, and the EA result came out that Friday the 27th.

Have you received your EA decision yet for the fall term of 2024? I realize they are to be released in late January but do you know an exact date?

is there a more official/reliable source besides “willow-robin” on reddit for this?

Don’t think so, hence “portal astrology”

Do you have a photo of the before and after of the colors?

No, but it was azure blue or Michigan blue before. Some redditors noticed it so I asked my DS and he confirmed it.

just checked and it’s dark/navy blue, not black for me. WHAT DOES IT ALL MEAN??? :scream: :scream: :scream:

we might be looking at the same color… it’s not pure black, just much darker then before.

You may want to black out your child’s name - if that is his portal.
