Where did you hear there was only one scholarship?
I found a financial factbook with spreadsheets on the USC website a while back. Looks like 1-$8,000 and 10-$4,000 awards each year. Once I knew that it was way more than stats, it tempered my expectations.
Daughter just found her scholarship info in the portal. We did see an increase from the original amount they told her (which is what I hoped once she got her HC acceptance). Now just waiting on Clemson and 2 additional college visits and we should be ready to make our decision by end of this month.
We received the same offer which is nothing to sneeze at, but practically not what we anticipated given the ranges. Had no idea how few scholarships are given at higher ranges but I know parents last yesr were also surprised.
Exciting! Congrats!
Yes, just received Capstone Scholar.
Same offer for mine who didnāt apply for honors but tonight got Capstone Scholar. Already had the $90k over 4 years from acceptance and was awarded $500/yr now too.
Does anyone know if SC publishes information on how they choose merit amounts ? We are happy with the amount we got for sure, but curious why we didnāt receive more . Maybe SAT? Congrats to all who received monies !
Here are some spreadsheets of past awards. They have very few of the top awards.
D24 got $10k/year OOSā¦.thrilled
Thanks for the spreadsheet. That was helpful. Wish they had clearly published how many of each type to manage expectations. Anyone who has been speaking with admissions ask about Provost award? On the website, it said that was stackable with our merit awards and in state waiver. Curious if thatās been confirmed. The merit offer has brought us below our two in state options (our in state tuition is lower than SC) so we are very fortunate that DS can make the decision without worrying about the finances. Iām so sorry to those who didnāt get the number they needed. I really think our kids can do great in so many places and wish your families the best of luck with your decision.
In state, accepted to capstone, $2K merit per year (plus already has palmetto fellows so basically tuition is free). Declining. 3 other schools in contention.
IDK, all Iāve been reading about is how much more difficult it is to get their merit. Mine actually got more than we expected given that. Because there isnāt auto merit, I think that alone says to manage expectations. Mine is going elsewhere, but we would have been very pleased with what she got from USC had she wanted to go tehre.
We are signed up for a Friday Engineering and Saturday Admitted Student event. Is there a schedule available? Do we have to register in advance for specific activities?
Just wondering how you found this, and is it available for every college?
Daughter accepted into Capstone program and UofSC is one of her top 2 options. Can anyone comment if there is a capstone acceptance mtg. during admitted student weekend 3/23? Thank you
I did a lot of research, what is available differs widely by college. The best place to start with most schools is to search ācollege name - institutional researchā or ācollege name factbookā - lots of schools use Tableau and allow you to filter through a lot of their data.
Thank you!
I will try your suggestions!
thatās great, do you mind sharing her academic stats?
Not seeing anything, hoping they are still working through all of them, we were moved from the EA pool to RD so fingers crossed we hear something this week.
