Are merit decisions typically given at same time as admissions?
A merit amount with a āminimumā amount is typically offered with admission.
Do you know how long you typically have to wait to find out the actual amount then?
Around RD timeāBut the minimum amounts are pretty good indicators as to what you will get. For example āminimum of reduction to instate tuition rateā (So you know you would get instate tuition which is the biggest chunk of the typical scholarship value). I canāt speak to how it has rolled out in the last couple of years but I had two sons who were offered scholarships several years ago and what they were offered ultimately aligned with what they receivedā¦however I do know some people who were given more money later in the cycle because they went from a partial OOS tuition waiver to one that let them only pay instate tuition.
Has anyone applied test optional?
Yes
I spoke with admissions and the incoming class competes with itself for merit so this would explain the increase after all decisions have been made. This also means that the numbers posted on the website are only a gauge and NOT a guarantee if you have a specific test score/gpa.
Yes
Do you anyone that was accepted as test optional?
Do you know anyone that was accepted as test optional?
I donāt know anyone that goes to SC at all or that applied, so no ![]()
2 years ago my nephew was accepted test optional as an Economics major
Has anyone been admitted through the early action process as test optional already?
I donāt believe applying test optional counts against you from everyting admissions says. My son applied test optional.
the biggest thing they look at is GPA and HS course rigor i believe
When our daughter was admitted, she was told sheād get a minimum of in-state tuition, plus an additional scholarship to be received later. Later was in March, after the RD decisions were announced. I believe she was offered $2K per year (but keep in mind in-state tuition is worth over $100K over 4 years, so a big savings). We appealed it, and got a little more later (probably late April once they knew who was coming/who wasnāt). Thereās also department scholarships kids can apply for which amount to a few thousand per year - those applications come later. Hope this helps.
Yes everywhere we did for the ones that offered it. We didnāt see our scores helping only hurting us based on the curriculum taken and activities we were involved in. Now a-days SAT seems to be more about strategic test taking skills.
I received an email stating Clemson was going to release the decisions Dec 12th at 6pm, not sure if USofC will be the same day or next.
Correction USC not USofC.
Really curious too - have not seen anything official. There was the reddit post about Friday but nothing formal. Anxious times!
