University of Tennessee Early Action for Fall 2024 Admission

It’s so nerve-wracking!!! My daughter has been deferred at Auburn, Clemson, UofSC and fully expecting at UT too! She’s very down and wants to get an acceptance somewhere! It’s all a crapshoot!

My sons says: Please include your 7th semester grades on your SRAR if you need to include them on your application.

I don’t know if it was there before or not to be honest. And I am not sure what that means: if you need to include them. He has never been told he needs to include them.

My daughter was accepted at Auburn as well, but no notification of merit yet despite qualifying for the second level of OOS merit. Sounds like that merit award is uncertain at this point.

I agree… I think this idea is spot on. Seems pretty clear. Hoping for the best for those who have this as their #1.

Yes

My daughter has had the 7th semester grades thing for at least a week…so expecting a deferral. She will likely withdraw, as she’s not that interested and got into Ohio State so I think it’s a thanks but no thanks for us!!! Good luck to all…remember, it will all work out!

My neighbor’s kid applied 2nd round at Auburn EA with similar stats (she was also denied at UGA) and just received her merit offer and it was the full $17000, which is the max. Auburn also has it listed on their website if you meet certain GPA/SAT what the merit will be.

We applied to 3rd round EA to Auburn last minute and I expect we will see our Merit offers in a few weeks.

My sons at school so I cant see his portal but I know the last we looked, I never saw a calculated SRAR GPA…only self reported. And they will be sorely disappointed about 7th semester as our semester doesn’t end till the end of January lol.

He was admitted to USC and is stoked. We are really waiting for Virginia Tech before a final decision is made and that wont release till Feb. We knew when this process started that he wouldnt be able to make a decision till then.

I just checked my child’s portal and that message is there now (checked the portal earlier this morning and it wasn’t there). And she has already submitted her SRAR prior to the EA deadline which shows on the Materials Received list further down the page. So definitely scratching our heads.

It defiantly was not there yesterday and just appeared this morning.

It’s all very confusing. Did your daughter have the confetti and/or admitted major earlier?

Same.

My portal is also showing the message about 7th semester grades. I called the admissions office and was told this should essentially be there for everyone as they have begun reviewing RD applicants, but I’m inclined to believe it’s a tell of a deferred decision. Did your child’s portal have the confetti, UTK ID, or admitted major this morning?

If they are into RD applicants then what are they waiting for to tell EA students?!

Where do you see this about 7th semester grades? Is it on the main page of the portal?

Yes, it is on the “Next Steps” page.

Auburn is a great school! But don’t get discouraged about TN yet!!

This happened for our son too. This morning his portal said “Awaiting Decision” but in the Next Steps section he had a NET ID and Admitted Major (Civil Engineering). I just checked again and that is all gone. He’s OOS, Weighted GPA is 4.27, UW something like 3.8 or thereabouts. Eagle Scout, summer jobs, Varsity Crew. He’s been accepted to UDayton, Auburn, Penn State, and UPitt. For us, the tough part is hoping for merit scholarships and financial aid. He can get in, but can we afford it… I cannot believe the cost. It’s crazy.

Good luck to all!

Hang in there. I know a very stressful time for Parents and their children who have applied. There is not much you can do in these situations. Take deep breath and relax. Things all work out eventually. Happy Holidays and Good Luck.

It’s not there for everyone. I know of two who just checked and this morning they showed as admitted and even though that disappeared, as of right now, there is NOTHING about 7th semester grades under Next Steps.
