Yes, I’m aware it’s not there for everyone. That’s just what I got from my conversation with the admissions counselor.
My daughters portal has no change either. She applied EA for pre vet and honors college. She was accepted to auburn round 3 with an invite to apply for honors and deferred at UGA. She applied to Long Island Univ as safety school and received a full ride, which was totally unexpected. Also applied RD to Cornell with a flat out rejection…as expected. Waiting on VA Tech, Florida, and NC State…and of course UTK…hopefully tonight🤞🏼We havent visited UTK yet, but we’ve heard really great things. Going to be a really tough decision.
We are OOS as well and got that portal update. Unfortunately due the record number of applications, most of the big schools don’t offer very much merit aid for OOS. The best that I came across was Alabama. With my son’s SAT score and GPA, he would qualify for $24k in merit (according their website). I’m guessing he’ll get around $13-15k at Tennessee, which puts it at a higher cost than our in-state (but not as desirable) flagship. It’s exciting to get in, but cost will play a main factor in a final decision.
Could you share stats?
I feel like the same kids are applying to the same group of schools and the admits and deferrals are also probably pretty much the same. We will have to wait until those that have been admitted to multiple schools start to make their decisions and free up spots for the deferrals (and inevitably waitlisted). The waiting is the hardest part (Tom Petty haha)
Does everyone have “social security number needed” at the bottom of their “next steps” page?
SRAR message just showed up on my daughter’s portal. Nothing changed this morning.
is it possible it’s universal for all applicants?
no
Currently, no one knows. I have a few replies from earlier about how I called the admissions office and what they told me.
I don’t
Is it plausible that they want 7th semester grades regardless even if it’s more likely for deferral? Plus I feel like they wouldn’t have a tell in the open like that and keep it there especially if there’s still been no announcement for a date or time
We just landed in Salt Lake City for a week of skiiing and fun! This whole process has been so miserable. Now we still wait for answers and won’t be able to enjoy
Accepted USC
Deferred Clemson
Check out the University of Arkansas if merit is important. They offer the Non-Resident New Arkansas award. Automatic merit that covers 50 or 80% of the difference between OOS and IS tuition with a GPA of 3.6 or 3.8 and higer. Top 40 undergraduate business school (per US News). Excellent engineering and agricultural. Architecture school is great as well. And Fayetteville rocks.
I definitely agree about leaving the “tell” there, especially since they quickly took down the confetti backgrounds and “Admitted Major” status earlier. I don’t think they ask admitted students for 7th semester grades via SRAR. From what I’ve seen, admitted students only have to send in a final high school transcript sometime around June or July. RD applicants submit their 7th semester grades, and EA applicants are given the option to add them to strengthen their application. I do think the most plausible positive answer is that this update will be coming to everyone’s portal, but it is coming in batches. I received the update earlier today, but some people only received the update in the last hour or so. I do want to add that no one that had the confetti or “tells” of admission have said they received the SRAR update to their portal. I’m hoping it isn’t a sign of deferral, but I am OOS and it’s very competitive this year.
Great info. Thank you!
I have the 7th-semester grades as an OOS, so I’m just trying to find any inconsistency to try and find some hope for admission, but I do also think that because this is being shown, a date should be coming any day now, I suspect today or tomorrow around 4
Does anyone have the 7th semester grades AND had the portal background switch this morning?
My son was accepted at USC too and deferred from Clemson, UGA and Auburn. He did not send scores if it wasn’t required (but had strong rigor and EC), so who knows how that plays in? We are also waiting on PSU and they’ve been rolling out acceptances since November- it’s so hard to wait. Try to enjoy your trip!
My sons says please include 7th semester grades if you need to. Not sure what that even means. He wasn’t told to at any time. So no clue.
