I think the only thing admissions can do is to ensure that they review those who were deferred first over the regular admissions, and ensure that if admitted they receive the appropriate amount of merit aid. It is clear that they prioritized the SRAR GPA and SAT/ACT scores, and most likely major. The bar for admission is listed here: Fall 2024 Early Action Release - Undergraduate Admissions. From what I understand Clemson was the same way, as far as just looking at the numbers. It is one of the things that concerns me, going to a large university, and will be a main topic of discussion as we help our son select a university.

Is Chancellors Honors the same as University Honors?
Not to be a Debbie downer here but so many stats listed are way below many deferred students . Wonder what their angle was with this ? Makes zero sense ! We are high stats too and got deferred

This explains the Chancellorās Honors program (which I believe used to be called University Honors). There was a separate application (additional essays) due in November. It said the acceptances go out in January but sounds like at least some kids had their acceptance into the program written right on their UTK acceptance letter. My daughter was hoping to be accepted so hoping they didnāt inform everyone yet.

Iām going to have my son email the local admissions rep and just attach his report card that way . Do that !

I was not accepted to it yesterday, but also did not receive a rejection email.
Basically thank you for applying but after a detailed review you were not selected. You can re-apply later as a current UTK student.

Which maybe means you are still in the list of candidates under consideration.
Hopefully they provide these kids some decisions. I have a feeling based on those Iāve talked to a lot are high stats kids. My daughters SRAR gpa is 4.5 and she has a 1380 gpa. Not sure about major competitivenessā¦sheās pre-vet first choice and animal science second choice.

I think people are saying they were deferred when they really got pushed to RD bc of the SRAR issue.

Were you truly deferred? Or did your portal just change to say awaiting decision in RD pool?
