Just talked to admissions. They were very understanding and kind. The counselor said they will absolutely be putting a correction in place. He looked at my daughters submissions and said I was 100% correct that everything was submitted on time. Hopefully they stay true to their word and provide decisions for these kids ASAP. unfortunately…they could just defer them all and say yep we handled it.

Not deferred. He was probably SRAR issue. Did he receive a letter saying he was deferred? Or did portal just update to say RD. Pic attached to show you what will be under next steps on portal if it was the SRAR issue…which WAS a glitch. Confirmed by UTK admissions.

He received a Deferrment. We did not receive the above email as we never made SRAR updates so we were saved
that’s what my daugther got. did the admissions counselor seem to suggest people would need to verify with them or that they could tell who was in this group?

He added my daughter to a list, but I’m sure they will have a way of identifying everyone.

I was wondering if you would share your story on what happened with the SRAR glitch. Did you receive the notation to update early in December and then send an update and they bounced her into RD? This is what happened to my daughter. I have calls in to both the regional admissions counselor and to the university admissions about this but have not heard back. My daughter asked both her highschool counselor and the regional counselor when she noticed the SRAR if she should put in 1st quarter grades and they both said yes. No one ever mentioned if she entered them that it would push her out of EA into RD.
We have the glitch and what happened to us was that my son had the SRAR done and all items in before the November deadline. He then applied to VT in December and that updated the SRAR and somehow sent it to UT so it looked like he submitted past the deadline. He called last night and left messages and sent emails to his regional admissions rep and the main admissions email. We have not had any response thus far.

I will be curious to see what they say. I sent an email in with the history of me confirming with admissions as early as last week that everything was in and I was still in for EA consideration. I received confirmation back each time that yes, it was complete, and yes i am in the EA pool. And I think you’re right, we will all be deferred just by a different email. I haven’t heard back… they have an auto message saying due to volume…respnd in a few days. Prob out on break this week too …

Emma i just called and they answered the phone and confirmed the issue specifically for my daughter. This is the number i called, 865-974-1111. They were really nice and understanding.

Call this number. I just got off the phone with them, they will put you on a list and they said the University should have a letter out to everyone affected hopefully by tonight deciding on how the university will handle this issue.

Just got off the phone. Very nice people - especially since I am sure they are getting bombarded today. She said that they are trying to resolve the issue and we should hear from them shortly with a resolution. I asked what the resolution might be and she said they are in a meeting discussing that right now. I did notice that the “deferral” information was removed from my daughter’s portal. It is back to prior decision look.

Same thing here; both from what they said and the portal update. Do you have the Admitted Major now populated?
Our portal was updated also. Says admitted major pre-veterinarian science. But no student I’d yet. They must be going through their apps!! That is good news and a thumbs up to how UTK is handling this.
My other daughter who did not have the SRARs issue has her admitted major populated. She was deferred.

Congrats !! Not to be “that” person but are they converting all of the errors to acceptances ? Because then that’s opening ip another gigantic can of worms .
They may be converting them all to deferrals- nobody knows.
