C’mon Rocky Top!! Show us some love on this mid-December day.
It won’t be today. People have called the admissions office and they said early next week.
Right - but it would be nice to know the intended date/time of the EA decisions, which is what I am hopeful for today.
Got it. I think it’s very possible they release that info today, especially if the release will be Monday.
Any buttons to interpret?
I have seen no changes in the application portal since I started looking for them during the Clemson one. But I have screenshots from early this week to compare to to find subtle changes that might occur later.
My son just heard on a Zoom he was on that it will be 5pm today. Another friend got an email. Fingers crossed!!!
But I am not believing it until I see it in writing from UT!
same. If there was an email, all applicants would have got it.
I just spoke to my admission’s counselor. He said that it will probably NOT be today. They were planning for today but are having technical issues. He said to expect early next week before they leave for the holidays.
Thank you for the clarification.
definitely do not want “technical issues”…like the #PSUbound that flashed for a brief moment for all of us there …that the school has yet to explain or apologize for…
further solidifying the thought that academia doesn’t live in the real world…
don’t they have some top notch computer folks there?
mess up like that at a for profit and you’ve got some 'splain’n to do… and a lot of “corrective actions” to ensure repeats don’t occur… much respect to UG Athens… their process for OOS was announced well ahead of time and is going down today at 4PM EST… advertised on many socials and a blog maintained by the Director of Admissions… model program for managing student and parent stress… good luck to all !
My OOS daughter just said that she heard that Tennessee only admitting 15% OOS for 2024 clye. Has anyone else heard stats? She got invite to apply to Honors College and submitted and took that as positive sign, but now I’m not so sure
They for sure will take more in state students but I do not think that the acceptance rate for OOS will be that low. I am a student who applied early and they have not sent out any information confirming that. UGA sent out info saying they were taking 20% OOS and 80% IS applicants, so if it was that low I feel like they would send something out confirming.
I think OOS acceptance rate will be lower as a result of the auto admit for in-state kids. In most other instances, such a policy has had that result. We’ll see. Good luck to You and all the other Students!
Is this a change for in-state admissions?
Is there any correlation between offer to apply to Chancellor’s Honors Program and admittance?
Yes. This is the first year that in-state students who are in the top 10% of their class or who have a 4.0 GPA will be auto admitted: https://admissions.utk.edu/guaranteed-admission/
I think the new policy is in response to in-state pushback to the steady increase in acceptance of out-of-state students over the past several years.
No correlation at all. They want as many applicants to apply to boost numbers.
There was Definitely pressure from Tennessee residents last year. Many TN kids with close to 4.0 GPA’s were not admitted and people were not used to that at a school which traditionally accepted 75% of its applicants.
