Your D is very wise – to only accept a direct entry program if she know exactly what she wants to do. Hopefully she gets good news from the advisor and/or gets good news from other colleges!
How did you guys see that you got into Cook?
She received an email Friday evening!
My daughter got a separate email the day after acceptances came out.
Received a separate email
Yay, I got it too! Just didn’t realize because my inbox is way too full(13000 emails and counting).
Congratulations
Does anyone know how to decline admission? We cannot find it anywhere.
Disregard…found it.
Thank you!! She is going to call after the holiday break and good news her December SAT score came in and jumped up 40 points so hoping that will help. She did get into a New England School with a presidential award and it is a Bachelors and Masters program. So won’t even have to apply for the masters program. It’s a great school and great option.
Do students set up their UTK email or only if they enroll? DD got an email to set up but she said it’s only you’re attending.
You set it up. We got an email stating that the UTK email is now UTK’s primary source of communication with us.
We got the same email and I was wondering the same thing. I saw the “this is how we’ll communicate with you” note, but I thought that maybe meant about admitted student things? No idea.
Thanks-- so you are saying you set it up but haven’t confirmed your enrollment yet?
So are you going to set it up? I was thinking of calling and asking
We are having a hard time getting the decline admission to work. We’ve done it three times and it still hasnt accepted it.
I wasn’t going to, but now I’m kind of worried that that is the wrong choice. If you call, please report back. My son isn’t ready to accept admission yet - he’s waiting to hear from a few more schools and even if they all say no he’s going to want to visit again to help him decide between UTK and his other current top choice.
Follow-up, he was accepted a week later. Architecture. Yeah!
I called and they said you can create the email and it would be the main point of communication about financial aid, etc. It still seemed a little unclear. He has visited already? What is the worst that can happen by creating the email?
I haven’t set it up yet(a testament to my procrastination skills), but I’ll see if I can find the email.
My sense is they say that do this to create the sense of belonging for the potential student, in hopes of translating to enrollment. I think the exact same/mirrored communication will go to their personal email. With that said, there is no commitment required, and no deposit, so my son did create the UTK portal/email. Sure enough, he had the exact same emails in his UTK email as he has in his personal email. So it is likely that there is no harm but also no benefit, but I can’t say for sure.
