Did they just release new vol day? I have been on the look out, when is it? Where did you find the link? TIA
No link. Just the save the date on my sonâs portal under âeventsâ March 29, I think.
Edited to add that the registration link is now live in the admissions portal.
I was wondering this too. Itâs such a big school to only have one admitted students day. My son is trying to decide between UTK and Clemson, and both have their one and only admitted students day on the same day.
Oh that is awful. Our closest conflict is that Indiana University has only one admitted students day for the school he was accepted in and it is the day before UTKs. Figuring we will rent a car and drive the 6 hours from Bloomington to Knoxville that Friday night.
Have you been to either UTK or Clemson? They do have Big Orange Day which is not quite the same (from what I read) so maybe that could work for you instead. If you havenât been to either and you canât make one of the admitted students days, I think you schedule a visit that works for you, take a campus tour and be sure to make an appointment with someone from the school where his major is located. We did that last year during our initial visits and every school (but one) was so accommodating and happy to meet with us 1:1.
We are too, same boat!
Weâve been to both. UTK was one of the first schools he visited (early spring of sophomore year) and Clemson was the last (same day regular decisions were released last year). So, heâs having a harder time remembering UTK - he just remembers it was the first school he really liked. I guess we will just do admitted students day at one of the schools and try to do a more involved tour/day at the other. I did the whole college selection process with my oldest last year, and I really thought the admitted students days were great in really giving a feel for the school over all, compared to the regular campus tours.
my S23 attends Clemson from out of state and really loves it. My current S25 has acceptances from both Clemson and UTK so we are in a similar boat, except he knows Clemson well. Need to get to UT-K. Weâre happy to be a resource to answer questions about Clemson, if helpful
Not delusional at all. The actual ROI amongst similar state flagships is nearly identical and slight ranking changes or acceptance rates among them donât mean much.
Updating my own last post here - S25 has decided on a different school despite a couple of deferrals still out there, including UTK, which was in his self-announced top 3. So, one less app out there for the RD pool for those of you still waiting. Best of luck to all!
Curious if UTK is known for being generous or not with merit/scholarships to OOS?
my OOS son did receive $13K per year, which I think is difference-making (generous) and has put UT-K in the mix when they might otherwise not have been compared to some of his other acceptances
They have tables they publish that shows merit based scholarships that get awarded based on SAT/ACT and GPA (UTK Calculated). You can look at the different scholarships to see which one you might qualify for.
Under the âJust for youâ tab I do not remember if this Apply to the UT Success Academy section was there. Does anyone else remember seeing it before?
Thank you! Where dd he decide to go?
I have this under âjust for youâ - I am not black, hispanic or a male⊠just as an FYI
Same!
My son has this under âjust for youâ, but he is not black or hispanic. Maybe everyone has it? He actually didnât see it at first since itâs at the bottom.
My daughter also has it. They make a point of saying âinitially aimed atâŠblack and hispanic menâŠâ. Perhaps theyâve now opened it up to all to be in compliance with eliminating DEI programs.
So does anyone not have it? That is the real question.
Indiana. Itâs a football school now!
