Daughter’s merit was mentioned in acceptance letter/portal 12/17/24. OOS IL, Haslam Biz school.
My S25 got merit aid with his acceptance letter but a quick review of the website makes it seem like separate need based aid will come out later. Financial Aid - One Stop Student Services
I think you can absolutely reach out to your assigned admissions officer or the financial aid office to find out what timing you can expect.
Thanks, I got my merit with letter too but still waiting on my need-based. I reached out to my AO and they were unsure so I sent a message to One stop!
So my D25 is trying to set up the UTK email account. She has a NETID and now a password. When she logs into the account there is nowhere to see emails. I feel like it should be obvious. Am I missing something? The page we see after logging in is Welcome to Mirosoft360 Copilot. Any tips? We are clearly missing something.
Same situation here.
We were trying to figure out how to even do that part last weekend. Did you already pay the $250 fee, or is this something you can do without paying that fee?
I think you have to accept the offer to setup the UTK email account.
you do not have to pay the fee / accept the offer to set up your email account. with that said, I the email account seems to be replicating what would be sent to student’s personal email/contact, so I wouldn’t sweat it either way
after you get to the MS co-pilot page, click on the outlook tab/app to see emails. The co-pilot page is the student’s MS portal to access other MS tools (e.g. docs, spreadsheets, and in this case email [through outlook]
Did anyone get the invitation to JUMP (the overnight visit)? Does anyone have a background as to what it wound entail/whether it is worth it?
We did not pay the $250. SHe did finally get it set up and could see emails, with her dad’s help. It was not intuitive. She had to set up a password and wait for that to go through. She then logged in through microsoft. Once logged in she they poked around until they found the actual emails.
My son applied to UTK having not visited and was accepted EA business. We have a trip down planned for March so will see it then, but I keep reading that UTK is routinely listed on the ‘least attractive campuses’ lists. I know he will want a campus he feels good about. Is it truly a campus or is it more like BU or something— integrated into the city?
It is a campus which felt pretty defined, especially considering one side borders a river. I wouldn’t call it unattractive, but it has many more modern looking buildings and less vegetation and trees than many others which might be what causes it to be on those “lists”. My student liked the campus, but it doesn’t have the aesthetics that Indiana, Boulder, or others have.
This may be a dealbreaker for him (which is said, because on paper, it looks great)
I should perhaps rephrase: Some campuses are literally gorgeous, but it is one box to consider of many. Tennessee has a campus and it’s a nice campus-- we have also toured Boston University and that was immediately off her list because of the feel of campus. My student would love the aesthetics of Indiana/Boulder, on a setting in a small town like Clemson, but with the new facilities and scholarships that Tennessee is giving her. This is my 3rd kid doing this and there has never been a “perfect” scenario. In the end, she will choose which school out of those and several other acceptances that provides the best option (but not the perfect option which doesn’t exist) for her.
there were a lot of things about Boulder we did not like. I thought that the main campus was very rundown and the campus spread all throughout the city…
I literally just said to my daughter…“decisions, decisions. But it is better to have choices than to not”. I agree with you; there isn’t a perfect option for most. I am very grateful she is in a position to have a choice. Good luck to your daughter
it was one of the less impressive campuses we visited from an aesthetics point of view. But we are comparing to Boulder, UVa, Clemson all of which are considered by different sources as tops in terms of grounds/campus beauty.
It certainly doesn’t have a traditional/beautiful campus feel compared to some of the other schools my DD visited. But the energy and college town vibe is real. When we are there on a football weekend, everyone in Knoxville is decked out in Orange - from babies to grandparents. It’s just such a fun town with so much school spirit.
Does anyone know if there is a special session for the honors college with New Vols Day?
And is there really only one New Vols Day? Other schools my son has been accepted to (Penn State and Indiana University Bloomington) have multiple options so I am wondering if I am missing something.
