University of Tennessee Early Action for Fall 2025 Admission

Under which tab are you seeing his UTK GPA?

Not reading anything into it, just an observation that they are changing the portal.

That’s strange about the note to do the SRAR. Under the Resources tab, my son’s looks like PurpleSunset24s.

Under the resources tab it says this:

Your Status: Awaiting Decision

The moment you set foot on Rocky Top, you’ll find a place that feels like home. Campus is filled with energy and tradition, but it’s also easy to find green spaces and quiet corners for study and relaxation. Just off campus, you’ll find a friendly Southern city and plenty of opportunity for outdoor adventure.

Self-Reported Academic Record

First-year applicants must report their grades exactly as they appear on their high school transcript. Additionally, UT requires that you upload an unofficial transcript to verify these grades. You can upload the unofficial transcript either directly to the SRAR or through your Go Vols Portal

How To Complete Your SRAR

The SRAR shows it was received on the home page with a list of other documents like transcript and recommendation

Ours says exactly the same, along with SRAR being received on the home page (Next Steps tab)

My son’s shows the same under resources. The other SRAR info I posted was under Next steps. It seems very generic.

GPA is showing under “GPA & Tests” tab.

Same

Nope

We do not see my child’s recalculated UTGPA anywhere. Where are you finding this?

Found it, i think. Under “GPA out of state” listed as self reported core GPA. Which is different than his WGPA & UWGPA on transcript.
OFFICIAL UTGPA is blank, says will be recalculated at a later time.

Yes, that’s it. I think it is based on what you entered in the SRAR.

Wow my kid’s gpa looks even more mediocre based on this recalculation lol. Guess it’s gonna be a no from this school. Bummer.

It truly depends. What is the recalculation? My son’s only dropped .02. When does OOS find out?

I believe 12/17

OOS student, should we be optimistic about acceptance chances if child was invited to apply to honors programs?

My OOS DD was invited to Honors and accepted in 2022.

OOS here as well. My hunch is that if student had a certain GPA/test score that they were automatically invited to apply. Unfortunately, there will be many people with that invite that likely won’t be admitted just due to how competitive it is now.

Do you know if UTK considers only SAT composite or reviews verbal & math scores seperately? DD’s verbal score is at the 50th % but math is below the 25th :frowning: She is not interested in science or math majors!!

According to the University (Fall 2025 In-State Early Action Release - Undergraduate Admissions), they got 52,312 apps by the 11/1 EA cutoff, with around 40k of those from OOS, and overall a 6% increase from the same time in '23 (and overall applications for last year’s admissions cycle were up a jaw-dropping 20% from the '21-'22 cycle).

With close to 80% of applicants from somewhere other than Tennessee, that’s going to lead to an absolute ton of deferrals. Given our kid’s stats, I’d put him at a 75% chance of getting deferred - he’s not a slam dunk at a school this hot, which has publicly said it’s going to focus on increasing in-state representation, but he’s also well within the profile parameters. Probably a “Let’s see what kind of early yield we’re getting and re-evaluate in March” situation for UTK.

Good info. Praying for a deferral.
