Accepted OOS Engineering!! Never expected this. Super happy after UIUC deferral.
Admitted OOS to CAS. 36 ACT, 4.0 uw, top rigor, good ECs w/ leadership.
im 99 percent sure I made the portal for uva but its not letting me login right now, says no account exists with my email and birthday… does this mean I got auto rejected no matter what…
DS - OOS rejected…bummed but was prepared. Think he applied for economics - 3.9UW, 1530 SAT/34 ACT. Varsity sports, club leadership, volunteer ECs…so many great kids with strong stats. He is disappointed but has good options and many more decisions coming out ahead. Best of luck everyone!
Deferred OOS. 1520 SAT, 4.0 unweighted, with 5s on all APs, excellent ECs. Kids from his HS have generally bad results from UVA so pretty pleasantly surprised by deferral instead of rejection.
He got into a bunch of great schools so is pretty chill about this (even after UNC rejection an hour ago), though “chill” generally isn’t his thing. LOL. Will probably accept the deferral to see if it is an option for him
Congrats to everyone who got accepted! Great school.
Got in UVA Engineering OOS! Can anyone speak on UVA vs. Purdue Engineering?
Deferred OOS: D26 4.0uw, 4.5w 1560 SAT, 12 APs (including 5 in senior and 5’s on other 7) 3 DEs. Good ECs, Leadership, recs.
Congrats to those who got in!
We are kinda in the same boat
. what are the chances of getting in after deferral? anyone knows. What does history says? My child loves to be admitted.
which program?
which program. Ranking wise UVA is in top 10. You may want to look at the program and what they are willing to offer. Purdue also has great engineering program. It may come down to what program he is interested in.
Civil Engineering!
No experience with either school. Engineering enrollment is much lower at UVA (~3k) compared to Purdue(> ~10k) which can potentially lead to smaller class sizes and closer interaction with faculty. Purdue on the other hand has a much broader engineering programs and curriculum and is higher ranked in engineering. For OOS, UVA is much higher cost than Purdue and you need to dig deeper to see the ROI.
agreed. Cost may be all that you may have to worry in the end.
I got a $10k/year merit scholarship at Purdue which makes it very affordable for me. Still waiting on UVA need based financial aid.
Our son got in OOS. 1560 SAT, 4.0 UW, 4.65 W, top 10% in a high school that is ranked 75 in the US and most competitive in our state, 15 APs (all 5s on the the 10 APs he already took before senior year), club founder/president for a club that matches his area of study, leadership and four year membership in another club that connects with his medical school aspirations, four starter on varsity sport and team captain (they won state and made it to he finals a different year). He had good recs, a good essay, and did a good of tying all of the parts of his application as a cohesive story. He also had a ton of volunteer hours and two internships.
S26 got accepted!!! In-state, College of Arts and Sciences. As a UVA alum, WAHOOWA and CONGRATULATIONS to those who got in!!!
CAS, Political Science/Government (don’t remember program name).
Son got in! OOS (Ca), 4.0 uw, 4.75 wgpa, 14APs 10 5s and 4 4s, 8 honors, pres of club, in 4 others, 1430 SAT, Jr Olympics for soccer traveling to Europe to play, club soccer and varsity soccer 3 years and as freshmen played jv basketball (not that it matters). Mom passed away suddenly when he was 15 and became a junior support counselor at a grieving support center where kids come to get help from losing a parent at a young age. He got into several business schools already (IU, maimi, SMU, Ohio st, Boulder) but UVA and Michigan are top choices so far. Michigan is too expensive though. Very little help from them. Waiting on Duke, Stanford, UCLA, NYU, and couple ivys. He’s, even with a weak sat score. Good luck everyone.
DD got in day -she is so excited
Purdue is an engineering power house T10, outranks ivys and most others
