Also is it too late for me to appeal? I just realized that I’ve passed the April 15th deadline
@Pokamolodoy – I am pretty sure that the offer after appeal can be declined.
Don’t know about the appeal deadlines (especially for denied/waitlisted candidates).
@UWadmissionstaff – would you be able to clarify?
@Pokamolodoy @prouddad20 is correct, you do not have to accept the offer if your appeal is approved, but usually appeal letters are written by those who are set on going to this school if offered admission. also, there is no deadline for appeal (i have contacted the admission office!)
@pqweij1032 @prouddad20 Thanks a lot for your answers!
In-state appeal to get off the waitlist was denied
I’m sorry to hear that When did you submit your appeal?
Does anyone know when UW will start notifying the instate waitlist? I don’t know if I should commit to another school quit yet or should I wait until mid may since a lot of college moved the deposit deadline to June 1st now. And what are the chances of getting off waitlist as an instate this year? I heard a lot of oos already got off and I saw from an earlier reply that instate this year has a smaller chance?!
@em0910 admissions is extremely unpredictable this year, but if your other choice has moved their date to june 1st then u should be fine. i think udub is gonna start taking a LOT of people off after may 1st
It’s hard to predict if UW will accept more or less instate waitlisted this year.
For OOS, there’s clearly a trend of lower yield (staying close to home, uncertain in-person classes, deferrals, value vs price). This is why the OOS waitlist was opened early.
For In-state, those factors plus others make it seem likely that in-state yield is also lower. There is a lot of volatility this year.
Interesting article on trends:

@perksofbeing - Congrats! Good for you!
If you don’t mind sharing - are you in-state? also which college/major?
I’m in-state! I applied for pre-major but eventually I’ll be going into psych (hopefully!).
@perksofbeing when did you get the email? i think we submitted it the same day. Also, what did you write about? did u submit a letter of reccomendation? thank u hehe
I submitted on April 13. I got the email at 6:10 today. I had a very strong LOR from a Running Start professor of mine. I wrote about my mental illness struggles that prevented me from accomplishing what I could have. I also talked about specific classes at UW I wanted to take, a club I want to start there, and internships in the Seattle area I’m interested in. I just made it very clear UW was the school I needed to go to and that I’d be successful and active on campus.
@perksofbeing thank you!! and congratuations!!!
@perksofbeing Yayayay! Congratulations!!! I am really happy for you!
Hi! I’m an OOS student from Cali, but I submitted my waitlist acceptance after UW sent out the wave of decisions to OOS students. I still haven’t heard back and I never appealed. Is there still hope for me getting in off the waitlist or should I expect a rejection?
Hello! We’re OOS, Ca too. My son was on the waitlist as well and submitted an appeal which was later denied. We didn’t hear anything from the first wave of students getting off the waitlist on 3/26/20 and was beginning to lose hope. To our surprise, he got an email two weeks later with the acceptance!! Don’t worry, you will get in. Anything is possible. Good luck to those who are still waiting:)Take good care!
@perksofbeing Same situation. Running start applied and appealed both rejected. Wanna go into psych.
@Ultador71 when did you submit an appeal?
