University of Wisconsin Deferred Early Action 2024

Yep, my son has put in a deposit elsewhere and gotten into their honors program. He would still accept an offer from Wisconsin in a heartbeat.

My son hasn’t committed. He’s considering U of Mn, and IU. He got direct admit at both business schools. Too bad getting waitlisted at WI has diminished both of these offers a bit. :pensive: Rough not to have a decision yet, to be honest! He’s doing one more visit before he commits. He’d love to get off the Wisco waitlist…

My son is also looking at Minnesota. He visited last weekend.

Funny thing is, my son said that Minneapolis was too cold and wouldn’t visit… , and Madison isn’t!!! When we visited Madison in February it was 35* the first day and 12* the next… Oh well, his decision…

We lived in Minneapolis for 15 years. Both cities are equally cold! :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye: Live in CA now. It will be interesting to see how these kids do! Most of my friends’ kids that go to school in cold climates aren’t bothered by it. :crossed_fingers:t2: it will be good for them!

A waitlisted person on reddit said that they were ā€œprovided a text box asking why I would succeed at UW Madison.ā€ This is not a thing, correct?

Here is the link to that reddit thread.

My DS had something similar (I don’t remember the exact verbiage)

I think this might have been provided for applicants who were waitlisted out of RD. If you go into the Application on the portal and complete the ā€œMid-Year Gradesā€ section it includes a text box allowing applicants to submit 3,000 characters.

S24 was deferred from EA and he couldn’t change that part because he had already submitted it as part of the transition from EA to RD.

Mine was EA deferred and then waitlisted…

So, the deadline to accept your admittance has been moved to May 15. But the Waitlist FAQs page says decisions will be made beginning May 1. Do you really think anyone would hear before the 15th? Mostly rhetorical question, just snooping around the site again. ; )

Yeah, who knows.

We know from last year’s CC board that waitlist students were offered as early as April 27.

If anyone here gets off the waitlist or even hears of anyone getting off, I hope they post it here!

Yeah no… I think anything past the first week or two of June and we’re done, done…

Not my son. If he got off the waitlist on the drive to move-in day at his current university, he’d just say ā€œnew destination dad, turn the car toward Madisonā€.

it says ā€œafterā€ may 1

I think a number of the students who intend to decline offers from Madison still will do so prior to May 1 as that deadline was not necessarily extended at the other schools where they intend to enroll.
