@ChloeCaldwell was UTA your first choice for CAP?
@austingal yes, because I’m fairly familiar with the area, it’s closer to home (I’m a Texas resident living in Oklahoma), and I have family close by. It was that or UTSA for me and I really liked what I heard from those that had gone CAP at UTA. Also, though not important to my education, Dallas has great concerts man.

@ChloeCaldwell My kid is all about the concerts also. That’s a plus.
@txlakez We couldn’t log on to the system. Kept getting kicked out and by the time we were in UTSA was gone at 6:07. You are very lucky.
@austingal We knew it would be REALLY quick! I know it’s pure luck (and maybe a blessing!) that we slipped in and got it - we were waiting right at 6pm to accept. UTA was my 2nd choice - but I know that one flies too… good luck to y’all!
@austingal UTA is a good college on it’s own, and I really like the area. Lots to do to take your mind off of the yearning for Austin… LOL.
Same situation here. I waited for so long and at 6:00 when I reloaded the page, it said “Bad gateway” and wouldn’t let me access the agreement until 6:07 but it was already too late. I am a bit devastated but I settled with Arlington and there’s nothing I can do now except to make the most out of it.
Anyone go for fixed tuition ? What is pros and cons ?
@ChloeCaldwell I am not familiar with UTA at all. Would you mind elaborating on the overall aspect of the school?
@LucidDream Well, it’s not so much that I have a good knowledge of the school itself, more that I have family that’s lived in the Dallas-Arlington area all my life, and it’s about second best to Austin in my opinion as far as large Texas cities go in terms of things to do and such. Well I guess Houston is close to Galveston…but eh. I like concerts better than sketchy beaches. As for the school, it’s large (like UT Austin), the campus is nice, and the schooling is as good as most state schools. I’m most likely going to visit in the next few weeks and I’ll most definitely post more about it then. It’s not UT Austin, but it is a gateway so keep that in mind, I suppose. A lot of people like it so much they stay instead of transferring!
@ChloeCaldwell I’ve heard both mixed reviews about both schools but I haven’t been to UTA yet, and since I’ll be going there any way, I’ll try to learn more about the school. In the mean time, I’ll keep an eye out for others who are going to UTA as well. Gotta make new friends since I’m the only one left out of UTSA CAP.
@LucidDream I started a GroupMe so we could all make CAP friends! I posted the link a few posts back if you want to join! I read on a thread that it’s good to make CAP friends bc some UTA/UTSA students aren’t super fond of us.
@NotSoPatient Thanks. My S was accepted in Dec so maybe that was the difference. We did tour earlier this month and I scheduled a tour of the Makerspace. It was amazing. And to think it is going to get even better with the new facility this fall. It will expand to 23,000 sq ft! We did hear back that he was not accepted into Honors but he still wants to go. And although my family is a not big user of FB, I will check it out.

I also just found out I didn’t get into EHP. Honestly pretty surprised, I thought it was almost a sure thing with a 35 ACT and 4/460 class rank, but oh well. Is it really that competitive?
No EHP for my D either, but she’s still happy to go to UT Austin to study engineering
My friend son got in UT Austin without any scholarship, but from second year on , he received plenty of scholarships!
