Is there a group me for CAP students going to UTA?? I’d love to join!
@gettingschooled sorry for the really late reply, but yes I was offered CAP. I made the decision not to do CAP mainly because of money issues. Currently I have about 20 hours of college credit, so my next plan is to complete the 30 hours required for transfer application during this summer and fall at a community college and apply for spring 2018 transfer. Hopefully this works out. Good luck to everyone wherever you plan to go!
@sincerelyhk There is a link to one upthread.
Have all of the liberal arts honors decisions come out yet? I applied in early september and my honors application still says “we are currently reviewing your liberal arts honors application”. I was accepted to my major in december so I guess I figured I would just hear back from now about whether I was accepted or rejected from honors. I know a few others that have been accepted to LAH already, so just curious. Maybe by end of day today?
@Jillian0203, don’t know about Liberal Arts. But, when we called the CNS Honors Office yesterday about my D’s HHS Honors, I was told that they would keep dispatching the decisions all the way through Mar 25! So, it can be a long, arduous wait. Sorry!
@CollegeDadTX oh gosh okay, is your daughter planning on living in the honors dorms? If i get into honors i would like to live there, but if I get my housing contract offer before knowing about honors, i’m not sure what I should do.
@Jillian0203 - If you are 100% you will attend UT- you can accept enrollment & pay the $200. At that point- depending upon when you paid your $50 deposit- housing will send you a contract. When signed & returned- you will begin to have access to setting your preferences. This can be on-going & you can change it up until late June or July 1 (can’t remember the exact date but, I know it is summertime) Housing assignments then come out mid-late July.
You will have plenty of time to update to 1st choice of Honors Quad if you find out late March!
@Jillian0203, well…, if she gets into HSS, I’ve to believe, she’ll prefer the Honors Housing. But, don’t want to speculate until she gets there!
@bookmom7, that’s a nice explanation. Thanks. That’s the path my D is on.
@CollegeDadTX - your very welcome! It can be very confusing between the “application fees”- “advanced payment fee” -“enrollment deposit fees”…and the entire timeline.
My DS decided to remain in the honors quad for a second year. Although they are not the newest dorms- it is very convenient & has a great atmosphere. He has met some great friends!
Good luck to your DD & Hook 'em!
Thank you @bookmom7 , i’ve done all of that so i guess now i just wait for the contract to come.
Best of luck to your daughter! @CollegeDadTX
@Jillian0203 thanks!! I was wondering about CNS HSS. My daughter was accepted back in December as well into the CNS but we still haven’t heard about HSS or scholarships. Everything says it is still in review.
I actually just received my housing contract offer tonight around 5:30!
I think admissions is getting pretty gruesome this year. The entire first quarter in my HS class save for the autos got CAP’d.
Any other petroleum engineering majors?
@Aaribm – very similar results at My kids school also. Even some of the auto admits were rejected from their major. But some of them applied sooooo late. I just don’t understand. Apply Texas was available in August!
S just got accepted into CNS, Neuroscience, after not getting Plan II Honors. He’s pretty excited as he had high stats but from a small private school and not auto-admit, but in the quest for Plan II, we now realize that he didn’t apply to CNS Honors :-(. Not sure if there is a way to appeal that or not, or just move into it after first year. Also in at TAMU, and Trinity with top $$. More to come this month - it’s going to be a tough choice.
@ATXDAD15 - if DS decides to attend UT, he can apply for CNS honors at the end of the first semester. I think the deadline is in December. If it hasn’t changed- each honors program takes a handful (5ish) new members for the spring.
@ATXDAD15 CNS Honors are in the final stages of the selection process. Extremely unlikely you would be able to apply for this upcoming school year.
D just got accepted to CNS HSS! We are so excited and grateful. Someone had mentioned that if you get invited to Best of Texas you were most likely not getting accepted to honors. She was invited to BOT and accepted to honors. I think they are sending out HSS scholars until end of March. Best of luck to everyone!!!
Congrats @HankE & DD! Hook 'em
