Does anyone know when the scholarship decisions come out. My portal just says “We have received your Freshman Scholarship Application for 2017”
@ATXDAD15, congrats to you and your S for CNS Neuroscience, as well as TAMU and Trinity! My D, too, got admitted to CNS Neuro, TAMU & UTD, and her preference so far remains with UT. But, yeah, it’s a tough choice. And, too bad, he failed to apply for CNS Honors. But, I do believe, he can go for it for the sophomore year. And, yes, March is going to be a roller-coaster for sure! Good luck!
Congrats @HankE !! My DS didn’t get BOT invitation so does this mean she is not short listed for honors?
@17junior I’m willing to bet that the prerequisites for invitation to BOT have nothing to do with honors admission.
@Aristos Thank you for your reply. Hopefully its just nerves… sometimes waiting can make us connect the dots that don’t exist…
I was invited to Best of Texas but not accepted to the Honors program. I’m still waiting on other college decisions, but after mid-March the actual choosing begins. UT is pretty late with financial aid packages from what I’ve heard so it’ll lengthen the decision time
Congratulation @HankE . Did you get the CNS HSS notice in email or just have to check in portal. Also did it mention anything about scholarship money.
My DS status says still in review. I just spoke to Honors college. They reiterated the same that they are rolling out the notices till March 25th. Also she did not think there is any correlation to BOT invite and honors acceptance.
I have seen some Engineering Honors Invitees who were invited to BOT.
This is all so confusing. I wish they released all notifications on one day. :-(. Good to luck all where ever your destination may be.
Some honors programs have their own receptions, ie BHP and Plan II, so those students do not get invited to BOT at least according to the UT Admissions counselor I spoke to.
Has anyone heard anything about financial aid? I still don’t have any info for mine and I submitted my application in October and my FAFSA in February. How long should I expect it to take? And I got into HSS so will that factor into how much aid I’ll receive?
Has anyone accepted their PACE offer?
I spoke to financial aid office today. They just completed the awards for returning students. They said it will go out to accepted students approximately one week after the spring break. I am guessing they will get them out around the 24th. I assume they would like to inform all those students visiting programs that Saturday the 25th.
Wow, the 24th? That seems like forever! Some of us need to start comparing offers…sigh…
Each college chooses which students to invite for Best of Texas. In 2015, the College of Liberal Arts invited Liberal Arts Honors students to the event.
Yeah, one of my scholarship acceptance deadlines is literally a couple days after the 24th/25th… Agh.
Thanks - good to know. After spending another day at Trinity yesterday, and waiting on top schools to announce decisions later this month, it may be moot. Have to keep reminding him and myself that big schools like UT are primarily focused on Grad students…
@AllenTx15 she got an email and her portal changed. There was no mention of scholarship money. I don’t know if she will get any as we are OOS. I agree about BOT and Honors. She was invited to both. Hang in there…the waiting is tough! Good luck!
@HankE Thanks for the info. Yes, Waiting is painful. On the positive note it all ends end of this month. Some engineering honors students got full scholarship. Its unfair that they don’t equally distribute among all schools in UT
@AllenTx15 Our DS is one who got a full tuition scholarship from engineering. The money clearly was awarded from the engineering school as opposed to a general fund for all of UT.
Since we have received school specific solicitations in the past to ask for funds, I would guess that merit scholarships could be based on what school the donation is designated for. As a result, some schools would have more money to award than others.
Anecdotally, our DS has two friends with similar profiles accepted to CNS. Neither of these students received any scholarship money. I’m thinking it’s possible engineering alums donate more.
@PokeyJoe Congrats to your son. Even in Engineering many students don’t get. That’s a great achievement. UT is always stingy with scholarships. Being a flagship school of TX they know that students will come. Yes it appears engineering and business schools have more money than CNS. Hopefully CNS is not loosing some good students to other schools because of that.
@AllenTx15 Thanks! We know how rare it is to see any money at all, let alone full tuition. When DS got the letter, we were completely surprised.
As long as there are high stat students ready to attend without scholarships, I doubt much will change. The demand to attend UT easily exceeds the supply of available spots.
