Thank you @17junior . I don’t think there is a correlation between BOT and honors.
Have all merit scholarships been awarded? OOS?
I hope not. We are OOS in CNS.
Is anyone in CNS applying to the Freshman Research Initiative? How selective is it?
@tx3000 I think around 500 (?) freshman in CNS get into FRI, so not incredibly selective.
@Aristos Get into FRI or invited. Can anyone apply? It does look a good program to get into.
When my son applied 2 years ago, they were trying to make space for anyone who applied. Not sure whether that is still true. Definitely a good opportunity for freshmen!
ATXDAD: FWIW I have a sophomore in Trinity and he is very happy there. He was accepted in SMU, TCU, Boston College and UT Austin. His major is Liberal Arts (School Psychology) and decided on Trinity mainly because he liked the small college atmosphere, the ability to to a MS/BS in 5 years and when all merit scholarships added, the cost is equal or slightly less than UT, not to mention that he will be closer to home.
With my senior is another story, he wants Computer Science and UT has one of the best program in the nation. He is accepted in UT CNS Computer Science, but he is waiting on the rest of the big ones. Lets see.
@AllenTx15 I was invited, but there is a general form anyone can fill out
@Aristos Thx for response. My son got the email too. I wanted to find out if 500 were accepted into FRI. That gives a good chance. He will apply.
Did any international students get accepted?
I just go a CNS Freshman Scholarship ($2,000 for freshman year only) in the mail! Does anyone know how rare CNS scholarships are and what the average amount of money given is? I’ve very grateful but unfortunately I don’t know if it’s enough to turn down a full tuition scholarship at another school.
@DoctorB98 From what I’ve seen, Cockrell and McCombs give out substantial scholarships to a few select applicants. CNS and COLA are more conservative in both the quantity and amount of scholarships they give out.
$2000 is nothing to scoff at, but IMO shouldn’t factor into choosing where you decide to enroll at.
@csug2021 Here! I’m Chinese and got accepted. Haven’t accepted my offer though as I’m still deciding which university to attend plus some of the colleges I applied haven’t posted the decisions yet. UT Austin is still the first choice for me now anyway.
Hey,
I was accepted nearly a month ago to the Cockrell School of Engineering. I’m a US citizen residing outside of the US. I still haven’t received an admit package. Does UT send out admit packages to people living outside of the US, and if so, has anyone received one yet.
Thanks
@GracieQR Congrats! Where else have you applied?
@kassyD Since you’re living outside of the US, I would expect that they will still send you one but that it will take much longer to reach you. If you still don’t receive one soon, contact admissions directly and ask them.
i still have not heard back from the CNS Health Scholars Honors Program. Has anyone heard back? I guess I did not get in, but it would be nice to know for sure so I know what I am doing for college!!
@sciencegirl20 Same here. Someone asked the program and they said that final decisions would be out by March 24th. I don’t know why they extended the decision date by almost a month, it’s crazy.
@sciencegirl20 my daughter got in several weeks ago to the HSS program. It seems like I saw others though who had been notified before her so they are probably not releasing all of the results at the same time. Best of luck to you!!!
