UT Austin Class of 2021 Thread

So I got offered a housing contract that says I have to sign by the 25th but not all my decisions will have come out by then and I haven’t received any financial aid info so I wont know if I’m going… what should i do?? Is there any way to push back the date?

It will expire, but here’s what I know from the housing website:
“If you miss the housing contract expiration date, your housing contract offer will be cancelled and your housing application deactivated. You can reactivate that at any time on your My Housing page (insert correct link) or simply email our office with your UT EID.”

How are you receiving housing contracts? Did you accept admissions? I thought housing wasn’t processed unless you had paid registration fee. My son paid housing application back in October, but hasn’t paid registration as he hasn’t decided where he will attend.

Does UT wait until April to send the financial information? Does anyone know when the information was given out last year?

@ehsstudent17 I called Financial Aid to ask just this and was told they have just completed processing returning students and that incoming freshmen will receive their decisions via email in the next two weeks

my son got scholarship offer last week from UT via mail

@oblivion2017 , Congratulations! Is this scholarship offer also posted on MyStatus?

I’m sure this has already been asked but I cannot find the answer… Do we only get housing offers after we accept admission?

thank you @ AXONTA the offer is not posted on his portal

Yes. See this from the UT website. http://housing.utexas.edu/future/housing-process You have to accept admission, pay enrollment deposit and then they will send you a contract. I can’t recall what is refundable if you change your mind, but you can change your mind up until May 1, esp since many schools have not yet released decisions.

@oblivion2017 are you OOS?

@mom3boyz we are in state we live in Dallas area

When are Health Science Scholars decisions being finalized? I thought I heard that we would we accepted/rejected by March 24th! I applied by the priority deadline so I’m getting impatient that it has taken so long

Ditto. I’ve heard that the influx of over-qualified students (i.e, those that apply to UT and honors as a back up and plan to go to a more prestigious school when notified) has been very high this year, and those of us who have not heard back yet have likely been waitlisted. I think their plan is to wait until the last possible moment they can before releasing those decisions, due to the fact that they are waiting for other students to turn down their offer so they may admit another waitlisted student. It’s incredibly frustrating given that we weren’t told any of that information but in the long run it is a plan that at least attempts to benefit the majority of students, which is comforting.

Does anyone know what would happen if I have to delay high school graduation due to absences? How would that effect my UT acceptance?

You cannot register for classes until you send UT a final high school transcript showing that you graduated. If you graduate before the fall semester you will be ok for maintaining your spot at UT.

@Onioncake I would say that you should contact your admissions representative about it. If you have to delay it a semester or so, ask if you have the option to defer (postpone, basically) your acceptance. No matter what you do, definitely talk to someone at the school about it.

@JAMCAFE thank you so much for the info!

Anyone heard anything about financial aid yet? I heard that they’re not posting anything to MyStatus because they’re mailing out that information. Is that true; anyone else hear that too?

@hungryanddriven I have not heard anything back either, like why the hell are they taking so long? A&M got back to me in January and I applied there later than I did for UT.
