My daugther received an invite to interview for CBHP but has not been accepted to either McCombs or CBHP yet.
I’m still waiting for that too! My son is an auto admit, but we’re waiting to hear from McCombs. Does the banner go out once you’re accepted to the university or your major?
i am also auto admit waiting to hear from mccombs and i havent received a banner yet. i think banners go out only once you get a major
I wonder why you think this is just a trickle. Not all applicants are on cc or Reddit so I have no idea how many acceptances are going out. Do you have data from UT?
The Texas Admissions blog you refer to is a private college consultant that worked there many years ago.
You may be right. I am just guessing/estimating using last year’s data and past results. There may be a huge wave tonight. I have no idea. I am saying don’t be discourage if you don’t hear anything tonight. I think next week (Dec 11, Friday) is the first big wave. I could be wrong though.
Agree 100%
any communications admits?
Do any of y’all think that a large wave of non auto admit decisions are possible sometime this month?
I think it may be on Friday December 11.
For anyone who might be looking for some reassurance because they haven’t heard anything yet. My son is UT23. He was auto admit and submitted his UT application on August 1, 2018 shortly after it opened at midnight. He got his auto admit in November and then got his major in Liberal Arts a couple of weeks later. He was admitted to LAH at the very end of the admissions cycle (February?) but then was invited to apply for Dedman, which he did not get.
My daughter is applying this year and got her auto-admit but is applying for COFA and I think it will be months before we hear anything about that.
I got accepted into McCombs and Plan II for the Nov 22nd wave, but I think its a super small batch of autos
@riyamcyriac That’s awesome! Did they email you when they updated your portal or did you just happen to check? Also, if you don’t mind me asking, what were your stats?
Has anyone OOS received admission yet? Any Communications majors? Thanks!
Yeah anyone oos? Or will we hear closer to Feb 1st?
I checked before cause my friends told me but they emailed me that night. My stats imo are pretty average:
-1410 on SAT but I didn't submit it until after the sat deadline
-7 APs and an AP distinguished scholar w relatively good grades on APs
-i run a nonprofit (the young writers initiative), a blog, and some other writing things though I haven't won any fancy awards for them, some publications
-I'm in Model UN, The conference director for this year and I've won some pretty cool awards
-i founded a south asian club at my school, though that wasn't a big part of my application
-i'm the senior intern at my indian classical dance school and have been dancing for years, but also no notable awards. we were featured dancers in the SA nutcracker though
-i have a job at a tax filing company and I interned at SA Film
-was VP of Spanish honor society
That’s what comes to the top of my head, tbh I think my essays helped me much more than these stats cause I put a lot of time and effort into them, but the whole process is super opaque. I guess you could say I’m well-rounded, but idk if that’s a good or bad thing anymore. I’m sending good vibes your way!
Did anyone submit an SAT score of around 1300 and get accepted? My daughter is applying as an OOS applicant for CNS (Biology major). She attends an OOS boarding school, but we’ve been TX residents for 15 years. She’s applying by the 12/15 deadline which requires that all docs be submitted by 12/21. Her UW GPA is 3.8 in almost all Honors and AP classes. I don’t know if submitting a 1300 score will hurt/help her chances of acceptance, or if she should just not submit her score.
@CollegeYaYa I was told “strength” of courses and EC are more important, so you do not have to submit SAT this year.
“Strength” means if you have AP Biology, AP Chemistry, AP Physics, AP Calculus BC, related courses like Microbiology, Physiology, AP Environmental Science, AP Statistics… that will help more than a good SAT score. For non ranking HS, UT uses relevant courses to calculate its own metrics. ECs are evaluated in similar manner.
My case is an opposite as yours. Most of my 9th grade was OOS and that HS didn’t offer any AP I had to go to a community college one hour from home to take DC courses. Towards the end of 9th grade I moved to a Texas HS to catch up on AP. Most of my APs are science and my HS doesn’t rank. After some back and forth discussion between UT and my HS counselor UT treated me as auto. I was told by counselor that my HS doesn’t rank but they do have grade distribution report that won’t disclose to students. I was granted my first choice Biology last month.
@KaYoung2025 Thanks for responding. You showed a lot of dedication driving one hour to take courses not offered by your high school. Congrats on your well-deserved admission!
Thank you for this information. Hoping things are better in the Fall.
Just to give you some idea, my son is an in-state auto admit and has a 3.92 with loads of APs. We did not submit his 1300 to McCombs. I might have submitted a 1350. I hope someone can comment on your particular situation. Best of luck to you all!
