Potential “big” wave this Friday? Also, does anyone have any idea why UT extended the application deadline until the 15th? is it maybe because a low number of applications or?
Having a student in McCombs currently, I would not have submitted a 1350, so this is a good year to be test optional.
@collegeyaya For CNS and Biology which is one of their strongest programs, a 1300 sounds like a low SAT. I can’t tell if you’re saying she is an OOS student or considered in state, but that is especially low if she is OOS. Also, I would expect in state applicants are going to be way up this year. Well, probably all applications based on what is being seen at all elite schools and the fact that UT started doing auto admits much earlier than they have done in the past.
Essays for UT are most important as far as separating out candidates and course rigor with grades. If she has rock star essays that will make a huge difference. But a 1300 Sat converts to an ACT of about 28 and most kids applying to CNS will have a score in the 30’s or SAT above 1400.
Heard the same on big wave this Friday for UT admits. The extension has more to do with applyTexas having issues and more specifically, A&M’s SRAR has not been working and UT and A&M usually pair with deadline extensions.
Would I have good chances as an non-auto with a 1510 SAT and pretty good essays (yale student and a couple of AO’s said they were very solid- very good)
Well here’s hoping lots of people’s waiting will be over by the end of the week!
Historically, does anyone know if any OOS applicants hear during the early December wave or just non-auto admits from in-state?
OOS applicants were in the first wave last year.
Depends on major, McCombs business is 13% acceptance rate so I don’t consider anyone’s chances good
is anyone anticipating canfield acceptances coming out this friday as well?
Thanks for you feedback! We decided to just go test optional. We’ve lived in Texas for over a decade, but our daughter is considered an OOS applicant because she attends boarding school in another state.
That is utterly ridiculous! I hope if she gets in she at least gets in state tuition!
Yes, she still gets in state tuition. Phew!
Has there been any news about acceptances to Cockrell? Specifically Aerospace Engineering?
Based on this forum, I don’t believe any acceptances have been handed out for Engineering or CS. Hopefully that will change this Friday.
I have only seen 1 admit for Engineering and that was for Chemical. They were admitted the week before Thanksgiving.
Has anyone else’s kid joined/followed UT Class of 2025 on Instagram? It’s really interesting from an admissions perspective. There are almost no admits from business, CNS, engineering, etc., just a few “hoping to major ins.” Almost all accepted are majoring in communications, liberal arts, education, etc. And you should see what the Gone to Texas banner has been replaced with!!!
I was accepted into ChemE before Thanksgiving but as far as I’ve seen, there hasn’t been many other engineering acceptances. I think I’ve only seen 2 other ones so far.
Does anyone know around what time acceptances are released?
It will be likely after high school classes Central Time. Around 5 PM.
It may be random sometimes. Sometimes it is later.
