UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Rejected too, OOS, applied for CS and CE. Welp, I was accepted to Umich Engineering so I have no problems with this result!

You got capped and you’re a 40 Acres semi finalist? My daughter is a semifinalist and got PaCE’d
Heard from another semi-finalist who was AA and didn’t even get his first choice major

This is beyond ridiculous

In state non-auto for McCombs, offered CAP - 32 ACT, 4.05 GPA, non-ranking school HS. Accepted to University of Michigan, Purdue, IU Kelley, SMU Cox, A&M Mays, Univ. of Georgia, etc. At least he has other good choices. So many highly qualified students shut out of UT because of class rank. The competitiveness across high schools varies widely. So disappointing for them. Good luck to everyone for their other schools.

There’s a Texas law that requires 90% of incoming students must be from in-state.

Is it worth taking CAP or A&M? Is it possible to appeal when one has gotten CAP?

I am, too. UT wasn’t even on her radar until 40 Acres waved that carrot in front of her… now to not even get in… what a joke.

S21 got CAP’d as expected. He’s least bothered lol. He knew it was reach and wasn’t totally sold on being a tiny fish in a very big pond.

Now if TAMU can just let him know we can make some decisions and move on with life.

CAP = if you really want to be a longhorn. Except you have to spend your first year someplace else than Austin and make good grades.

A&M is A&M. I know what I would advise my child.

I still haven’t received my decision, yikes

I got capped for nursing .

No, I did not. I contacted the admissions office though, and they responded very quickly stating that: “The Office of Admissions operates 100% separately from the Alumni Association. It is not considered a part of the university and while we might partner with the alumni themselves for events we have no overlap regarding their work as a scholarship committee.”

Lol so it seems like the Alumni Association depends on the AO. AA can do whatever they want but it all comes down to AO

My boy got capped for Bio too. So he will also be heading to TAMU for BIMS - my older son is there and LOVES it. It will be great - this major is in the school of vet medicine - should be amazing

Does the admissions office expect us to call forty acres and let them know?? Or do they like, send them a list of their acceptances and rejections

Idk man, so chaos at the moment.

90% instate is for the university as a whole. The virtual admissions tour for the university last summer said 90% in state. Then we watched the virtual tour for McCombs and they gave instate numbers that were less than 90% instate for McCombs. So we asked in the chat why different numbers were given in each tour for the % instate. They said the University must “average” 90% instate ACROSS the university, but that instate % can vary by college. For the harder to get in majors they allow fewer instate and for the easier to get in majors they can allow more than 90%.

Traditionally they save CAP, PACE, and rejections for the last wave.
