UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

I wonder if being a 40 Acres semifinalist could be grounds for an appeal to UT? That the application deserves a second look?

Yes. The date to repsond is 2/12/21.

I got CAP admission, what does that mean? I know you have to complete 30 hours of courses approved but as an IB student I am given automatic 24 credit hours can I speedrun it?

I doubt it… it’s worth a shot, but clearly, the admissions office doesn’t really care about whether students are 40 acres semifinalists or not.

I have no idea but it looks like theres CAP or PACE instead ://. I’d rather have been deferred

if you got CAP, is it possible to do PACE instead

Don’t be!!! 67 THOUSAND applicants. They couldn’t take ALL the excellent kids!

DS attends a high school in WA State (Seattle) and was CAP’d, but has TX in-state residency for tuition purposes.

His good friend in Houston is a TX auto-admit, found out today he was rejected for Plan II but accepted for Liberal Arts Honors.

Wondering the same thing, is it worth the energy to even consider CAP. My son was AA to A&M, accepted for CS, accepted to SMU w/merit for CS that makes it somewhat comparable to UT costs. Waiting on a few other schools too.

Sounds like CAP to UT would mean very difficult to transfer into CS and he would have to be ready for with a new major. I know those schools aren’t nearly as good as CS at UT but not sure worth the risk to starting late.

Does cap go to specific students or leftovers or? Should I be grateful bc honestly it feels bad.

@pinkcactus456 , did you get deferred for engineering honors? Does it say it in your portal? Or did you get an email? My son’s still says they are still reviewing his application under the Honors tab.

My son was deferred to March 1 for Canfield BHP

No. Fewer PACE offers go out. You can’t ask for it, it’s either offered or not.

Both… for the record, I haven’t gotten into Ross (U Mich’s Business School). Those decisions start rolling out in a couple weeks.

RD, OOS CA, CS - Rejected, 1550 SAT, 36 ACT, several leadership positions, Tennis, Volunteering. Surprised to receive the result today - was under the impression that RD decisions will be out on Mar 1. We really thought that we had a decent shot at it. Oh well…Onto the next one…Good luck everyone!!!

Some fine arts may hear after 2/1 according to a call with admissions last week. But having said that, my COFA son was admitted Friday, so some are coming out at least.

if you click details it shows a deferral for me and a few other people

I believe so. I also got deferred for architecture, and, apparently, both of them regularly miss the priority deadline. I’m still going to call tomorrow though to confirm.
