Yes sadly, UT due to their state laws is one of the hardest schools to get into for anyone who does not live in Texas. It is 90% in state, about 8% out of state and 2% international.

UT Austin vs. UW-Madison. Please share any and all thoughts.
What/Where is UW-Madison? Isn’t it all Texas???
Just kidding, I know nothing of that school, but UT seems slightly better in several programs including engineering.
UT, but of course what program are you talking about? Engineering, CS, Business 100% all UT. But if OOS at either they’re going to be very expensive.
The waiting is killing me slowly. Steady and slowly.
We are also comparing UT Austin vs. UW-Madison - for physics. We are OOS (NY). Not a Greek joining, partying type, so concerned about being STEM nerdy introvert/intellectual type. Coming from a big public high school where it was hard to make friends.
You don’t have to be in greek, there are plenty of nerds and non-Greek types everywhere, even at UT and UW. Trust me! I know some. Everyone finds their own. UT has a really good (but hard) Physics program, but where is Physics NOT hard? I think I know a mom who’s daughter did Physics there and is now getting in grad school at Michigan. If you want me to double check let you know, please send a message.
There are partiers at every school. UT, UW, Ivy’s, etc. But ultimately, you do find your own through clubs, dorms, etc.

Whatever intel you may have re: Physics programs would be most appreciated. My son is primarily interested in mathematical physics (the theoretical stuff), so planning to take a ton of math courses, too. Thanks!

UT is the superior school…go check out any rankings list. And, I have son in his 2nd year at UT. I wanted him to go to a smaller school so as not to get lost in the crowd, get overwhelmed, have opportunities to be a big fish etc…well, he ended up at UT and I can honestly say that for such a large school, it seems like a small community. And there are so many ways for your kid to meet people, even an introvert can meet people and find their niche and their people…just gotta get out of the dorm room! Plus, Austin is wonderful and since you’re from NY, your kid might enjoy the warmer weather (except last week 
). Anyway, hook em!

UT Austin- Economics - I could minor in business at McCombs or pick up any other minors/double degree
Congrats on getting into Econ at UT as that’s not an easy feat in itself as that’s one of the hardest COLA majors to get into. That said, if your preference is actually business and you’re a direct admit at UW then you should seriously consider that option. It’s not easy to transfer into McCombs and if you’re in Econ you don’t really need the Business minor which is 6 extra courses. Just something for you to consider. However if UT is your first choice, since cost is comparable a lot of it just becomes a personal decision from there.

Yea I already know about that. But March 1 is close now, which means the decision will be any minute now. I’m just nervous you know, the waiting, results, etc. Plus I don’t even know whether other internationals have receive theirs yet.
We all know how hard it is for you, but the state of Texas was recently declared a National Disaster. UT was closed from February 12-February 24 because of it. Many people are still without water or are now being forced from their homes/apartments because of it. Please show some grace and empathy. Some people have lost everything including their lives. And for the record, when Feb 1 was the date, the decisions were actually ON February 1. So don’t expect decisions to come today and if they do, then just consider that an unexpected surprise.
Some people’s portals have also updated to show March 8.
