UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Thank you @NTexasTu. She has received favorable decisions from other fine universities including A&M, but her first choice like many kids in TX is UT. And she is getting a little worried that she may not get into her first choice major.

She just has to be patient. She has her admittance so she knows she is in so she can choose to go there no matter what and if doesn’t get her school of choice, as a stellar student can hopefully transfer unless it’s something like CS or Engineering.

My daughter has somewhat similar stats, auto admit and waiting on BME as well. The waiting can be frustrating. The only thing that is making it easier is that I haven’t seen any other BME admits yet. Hoping we will all receive good news soon! :crossed_fingers::blush:

Yeah, can’t quite figure it out.

@sunshyn365, thank you! The waiting can be really frustrating to kids. Also, as you mentioned the fact that there haven’t been any BME admits (at least on CC) may be something that should comfort her. Good luck to your daughter, hopefully she and my daughter will get the good news soon. :crossed_fingers:

Did daughter submit a test score? I think UT and all colleges have to do more work when there isn’t a standardized test score. Also depending on major they want to see lots of classes and EC’s geared towards that. Best of luck, I’m sure she will get in.

If your kid is an auto admit, I’m not sure what you’re worried about. They will get in. They just have to wait to see if they get the major that they opted for.

Yes, She scored a 1500 (750 each Math and EBRW). She was able to take the test only once, in Dec 2019. She wrote that test without much prep and was hoping she can use that score as a benchmark and take another test this past summer, but never got a chance. She is a National merit semifinalist.

Oh good, I am sure she will get it!

There is no rhyme or reason to UT. My son got into McCombs last Thursday, non auto admit. Applied on 10/4. Maybe they do it by major??

Perhaps!

My daughter is auto admit (top 2%) and has great extracurriculars and essays and still hasn’t heard back from Mccombs. Her twin sister got into CS last Thursday (similar stats). She is super nervous, i’m trying to tell her not to worry too much. Wish UT admissions weren’t so stressful and released family members on the same day.

If you are auto admit but you don’t get your major in UT Austin, while other schools like Baylor (gives you $$ plus Honor plus desired major) or A&M (admits you to major with Honor), or UMich (Ann Arbor many considered a better school) offers you desired major. That’s a big difference. I personally knew quite a number of seniors last year opted for other universities because of that. And they are not like those top 1% who had choices, they simply didn’t get what they want from UT.

My son got accepted to Electrical and Computer Engineering on Thursday (12/10) as a priority applicant. He is an auto-admit as well.

Hi …what are your son’s stats? My son is also auto admit We haven’t heard anything. He didn’t submit SAT/ACT. He has taken all AP classes in science and taking Calculus at community college.

He had a 1330 on the SAT which isn’t great for Cockrell but he still submitted them. He is a full IB student with 3 AP’s. He also wrote AP exams corresponding with his IB classes even though he didn’t take the class. Auto admit with a 3.96 unweighted and 4.90 weighted GPA. He submitted one rec letter and is in 5 clubs and XC/Track.

I feel your pain. This was our situation in reverse two years ago. My mccombs one heard on the first batch in December for oos admits but her twin who applied cns didn’t. It was a very long weekend in our house because the admittance was a surprise as we were told by mccombs people not to expect anything until February for oos. Thank god it was short lived because the other one was then accepted to her ED school (the other only ever wanted UT) on the Monday but the stress was unbearable and I felt terrible for my daughter who never was able to learn if she would’ve been accepted or not.

Friend’s son got into BME at UT last year with 1500+ SAT and Eagle Scout. Not top 20 in class of 550 but maybe top 30-40. Didn’t get into ED for BME at Johns Hopkins.

We are still Waiting

In state or OOS?
