UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Thanks, I’m aware of this, but I’m actually talking about something else that was posted about the Nursing program.

When a school (Texas) releases decisions in “waves” are rejections also released in waves or just select acceptances released and all rejections are released at the end of the entire process?

With Texas A&M, it’s usually full admission in waves, then Blinn Team/Teab and lastly PSA which is basically a soft rejection.

UT Austin usually releases their CAP decisions in a big chunk after full admits

It is my understanding that you can’t apply to the nursing guarantee program. If your first choice major is nursing and you are not selected for that, you may then be offered a spot in the nursing guarantee program.
It’s exactly the same BSN degree but you agree to start the nursing curriculum one semester later and graduate one semester later. It’s a way for them to place more students in clinicals, by spacing them out.
Hope that helps to answer your questions.

No, this is one annoying thing about UT. They wait until basically the very end to send any rejections.

My daughter I remember was admitted to McCombs in December. We’re OOS. Some kid came up to her and sort of hassled her saying “how did you hear back so quickly, I applied right away in August”. Nonetheless, he was ultimately denied. No one was really surprised. He thought his ticket in was his 35 ACT but that isn’t all they cared about.

There must be people they obviously know they aren’t letting in. Just reject them and let them move on instead of getting their hopes up.

My child is OOS so I don’t know what all of the acronyms mean… but I think I get your gist. I agree there must be many who just need to be “set free” and not keep their hopes up.

My son an OOS candidate was accepted last week 12/10/20. He applied end of September. Admit to McCombs. Sat 1430, GPA 4.6, 7 AP classes, Regional President of BBYO, tons of community service. He checked only because a friend was also accepted & checked the portal on a whim, so we don’t really know exactly when the portal changed to say accepted. Email arrived 2 days after he opened the portal. This is one of his top choices, so he put in the housing deposit.

Congrats! My daughter is OOS in McCombs also and both Hillel and Chabad are awesome there. She is also very active in Tamid which is becoming a popular group for McCombs students having to do with an Israeli Consulting Company. She loves it!

Here is my hope…is that since they have to keep slots open until today, those slots get filled. Then the next set of kids who were at the cusp of getting in are notified soon!

Of course, its all speculation on my part.

Did anyone get accepted yet to CNS OOS Physics major?

Wow. That is fast. DS21 sent in application around that time, but from OOS… still waiting. Similar stats. Oh, to live in TX

@AtxAg95 What does that mean, that they have to keep slots open until today?

@aak2003 Pretty sure it refers to…
Application deadline for all was extended to 11:59 pm on 12/15. All supporting docs must be in by 12/21. At that point, the university will be able to fully ascertain the stats for the complete pool of applicants for the Class of 2025.

Got it! Thank you!

For the auto-admits? Yes. By law both Texas and Texas A&M have to keep slots open for the auto admits.

Slots open, but not necessarily in the major the auto admit wants. If the auto admit doesn’t get their first or 2nd choice major, they are offered a list of majors that may be open. This could end up only being COLA (college of Liberal Arts)

There is a reason UT has a relatively low admit-enroll yield of 47%. (A&M yield even lower 39%) Majority of those are auto admit which means more than half of auto-admit won’t show up.

That may include me, I am waiting for 2 other colleges. It also appears A&M BIMS+honor is a better deal than UT Biology without honor.

Does anyone think there will be wave of decisions this week?

Typically, they haven’t seemed to send out releases the Friday before winter break, so I doubt they will, but then again UT tends to be unpredictable with releasing results, so I can’t say for certain, they might! fingers crossed hahaha
