Small HS size has this unique disadvantage in auto-admit policy, even though all 100% students (all 70 in class) are way above standard students. The top 6% are just 4 students.
UT Austin will take that into account it is just most will find acceptance in late January as they go through holistic review.
Interesting and I hope this is true. My son is a bit freaking that he hasn’t heard yet. We are OOS and others in our area have heard but different schools. I’m not sure if any from his has heard back.
Two years back, my daughter received her admission from UT on Jan 10, going by that, I’m hoping this time we should have a big wave on or around Jan 7!
Usually UGS and undecided in colleges come late in January. Many auto admits not getting accepted into their majors may get UGS or undecided offer within college (e.g. COLA and CNS), then they will be able to see how many openings left for those applying undecided.
Admissions office specifically “reminded” me that getting acceptance early (before winter break) doesn’t mean the candidates are better, just the decisions easier.
Can someone tell me please if my son will hear later because he applied for Dec 1 deadline and not the earlier Nov 1? Or do releases come out for both batches in Jan?
Thank You
My son applied on Dec 4th (due date changed to Dec 15 for this cycle). My daughter applied 2 years back on Dec 1st and heard back her acceptance on Jan 10. So, we may expect a decision during Jan wave, hoping for the best!
Thank you for this! Yes, it would absolutely make sense for UT to take that approach. Texas is practically its own country with so many wildly different environments, so comparing apples to apples is a smart plan. Plus, that would explain why they quickly admitted the VERY obvious top choices for CNS and Cockrell from our school. McCombs admits will be a tough call. Unfortunately, they’re all my son’s friends, so I hope they ALL get admitted. Any idea how many students UT would accept into a major from a class of around 500? Competitive DFW area suburban high school. Would 5 McCombs admits be a reasonable expectation?
