Did anyone get accepted into BMEN yet? If yes, could you please share when you applied and stats?
No one has been accepted yet to BMEN on this forum yet. There are a few of us waiting to hear as well.
Thank you!
I haven’t seen any admission to BMEN here yet. My son is waiting too. Wish everyone the best of luck!
S21 was admitted to McCombs on Monday.
He received a full-tuition scholarship but we are still waiting on Texas Exes and financial aid offers.

Auto-Admit
McCombs
I was also admitted to McCombs but haven’t heard anything about merit scholarships. Possibly because I didn’t have a test score to submit. Is he in-state?
C21lkey states right in the post Auto-Admit which means Texas residency.
First time posting but have been reading. My s21 is applying a holistically, his Texas highschool does not rank. He is applying CS, possibly CSB honors. I have not seen many students on this board admitted to CS. Any updates that you all have heard about? Until official word, just waiting patiently.
@TXEX3772 Are you AA waiting for major decision, or are you non-AA waiting for admission?
Does anyone know the auto-admit admission rate for the Cockrell School of Engineering?
He is a NONauto admit, his TX private highschool does have a formal class rank, therefore they have to apply via the holistic pathway.
Would you mind giving her stats? My daughter applied Plan II and Moody. Moody sent her a follow up email requesting a honors submission. She hasn’t heard back from either yet.
You make a great point about if “every kid seeking Plan II was kicked out of the process due to lack of room in Plan II, UT would miss out on some of the top kids in the USA. So, for those who do not get Plan II (which is a high brow, Uber-capable group), UT still considers them for their alternate major choice.”
Given that, why would it matter if they listed Plan II second versus first if UT might look at their other listed major versus turning away highly desirable students who applied to Plan II?
(My daughter’s college counselor didn’t tell her to list Plan II second. (He worked in UT admissions previously for almost a decade).
I don’t think UT publishes any such statistics
From what I understand, it does not matter if Plan II is listed as 1st choice or 2nd choice. I think anyone who asks and is told to list Plan II as their 2nd choice major (whether they asked their school counselor or someone at UT), is just being advised to realistically expect that Plan II won’t be offered to them, challenging them to seriously think through an alternate academic route through UT. UT as a whole is accepting only kids who were capable of honors work in high school. So, which of those applicants get accepted into UT honors programs and which do not is beyond tricky for admissions! I have NO inside scoop at all! I was simply sharing what my senior’s counselor advised. Again, I personally think it is irrelevant if Plan II is put 1st or 2nd choice. Plan II is looking for a very unique diverse assortment of students each year. A unique student profile that gives rise to a Plan II invite will be found in the essays and expanded resume a Plan II applicant submits. Whether an applicant lists the major as 1st or 2nd tells them nothing about the applicant, just that they want to be considered. When we went to a liberal arts session at Preview Day at UT nearly EVERY parent in the room wanted information on Plan II. The reps giving the session had to repeatedly tell the eager parents that Plan II was covered on its own, not in general Liberal Arts sessions (and all interested in Plan II were encouraged to visit the Plan II office or website - the Preview Day we attended was pre-Covid). Every parent in that room, it seemed, saw their child as a good fit for Plan II. The news press coverage the program gets so heightens public awareness that many who apply to UT are applying solely because they hope to join Plan II. Anyone told to rank Plan II 2nd, including my child, I think are just being reminded that there are gobs of other fabulous routes through UT and the uber-capable kids are being encouraged to look over non-Plan II UT degree experiences so they can visualize themselves as eager, academic, thriving Longhorns in more than just one major path. I am just a mom of a high school senior sharing advice received! Happy New Year. Wishing your student the very best.
Thanks for your thoughtful response!
In state, high school doesn’t rank, 1470 SAT, 3.85 UW / 4.186 W GPA
Lots of leadership and extracurriculars including Yearbook EIC, founder of film club, UIL State (Ready Writing), Texas Youth & Government Media awards, several published articles & poems, National Merit Commended, AP Scholar w/ Distinction
For what it’s worth, when my daughter applied she put Moody as her 1st choice and Liberal Arts as her 2nd choice, and then she indicated that she wanted to apply for Plan II. When we went on a Plan II visit in early 2020, we were advised to do it that way. We’re still waiting to hear about Plan II. I guess we’ll see!
A small wave just came out again for oos cns
@dherskowitz did it come out today? I thought UT is on holidays and no decision will be coming out till mid Jan 2021
