UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

I don’t think it’s common but pretty sure I have seen it happen with the most popular majors. Look at last year’s thread…some auto admit engineering kids were not offered first or second choice.

I’m not an expert but at a UT info session, I believe they said that they can’t guarantee your first or second major but you will normally be admitted to one of the two. If they are both super competitive its possible that you won’t get either but your stats seem like you are a good candidate for both.

Same. And Mays accepted him literally less than 24 hours after his application was complete.

Did interviews for CSB come out yet? When do decisions for Turings come out?

Not all applicants receive interviews, but having said that, you can be interviewed as late as February, so keep that in mind. If I recall correctly, they send out final decisions by March 1.

But you will be interviewed before an admission offer to CBHP?

Yes, any who are accepted will be interviewed prior to their acceptance. My son was interviewed in November but hasn’t been accepted to Texas yet! We are OOS.

Thank you & Good luck!

CSB is run more through the CBHP people that CNS people so it’s more than likely if you’re interviewed for CSB they won’t also interview you for CBHP also. I can’t recall how they did it two years ago. CSB/CBHP admitted students day is usually the end of March. It’s probably virtual this year as I think it was also cancelled last year, so you still have plenty of time to hear. Mine wasn’t interviewed until mid February even though she was accepted in the first OOS batch in December.

You can’t be accepted to CSB or CBHP without an interview if that’s what you’re asking.

If you haven’t been admitted to UT yet it is also possible to be interviewed for CBHP but then rejected altogether to UT since the people who interview for those honors programs are usually alumni and look at the apps separate from admissions to UT.

My son is also applying and waiting on hearing about CSB. He applied, in-state, nonauto-admit since his school does not do a class rank. He applied for CS as a major (Business 2nd choice as required for CSB). He has not received a response on admissions nor CSB at this time. We were told by our high school counselor that two kids at his school got CSB interviews, but both of them were admitted for the Business School and not Natural Sciences. We are hoping that is the reason he has not heard anything yet, but of course we do not know. Keeping our fingers crossed that we get some positive news in the coming week or two.

The acceptance process, and the seemingly random approach to the timing of acceptances, is very stressful for families and kids. I hope someday for future kids (perhaps my younger daughter), UT will have more transparency towards this process so all involved can wait patiently for the school’s decision.

As an OOS parent I couldn’t agree with this more. We were lucky we heard early but many kids from our school didn’t and some harassed my student because they applied in August and she in late October. They didn’t get into UT at all and some never had a chance. It would have been nice if they just reject outright instead of holding everyone over until March 1.

I would have liked my current senior to apply but he’s not interested in business and didn’t like what he saw of the program he is interested in so he took a pass. I probably would be going nuts now.

We’ve loved the academic experience she’s gotten and can’t really complain about the online classes she’s had as there is still so much hands on with them. I don’t think it’s the same in all majors and maybe not in the gen ed courses.

csb interviews haven’t started though. i reached out and emailed the head of bhp/csb and they said they only started bhp interviews so far.

@spacegirlyeehaw… Thank you. It very well could be that our school counselor is confusing the business honors programs. Even their information seems rather murky. I truly appreciate your feedback.

@srparent15… Thank you for your response. I am a Texas Ex, but of course many many years ago, and we are in such a different world now. But agree, the college experience at UT is an excellent one, academically and socially. Thus we are all hoping our kids can get in.

Thanks all!

Does anyone know if the number of applications was up this year?

I think BHP interviews started before winter break as they usually do, and it sounds like some people on here have said so as well if i’m not mistaken.

Yes, way up. I just read this recently. But for the life of me cannot recall if it was on college confidential or elsewhere.

What degree CSB awards – B.S. (B. of Science), B.A.(B. or Art), or something else?

My student is OOS and submitted the application on Dec. 1 (a month after EA deadline). When will the result for RD be released – late January or late February (by March 1)?

They say by March 1st. Most likely not in January since the majority of Priority Applicants are still waiting on their decisions.
