I assume it’s similar to T10 type schools and they focus a lot on awards/ECs.

It’s fit to major, especially with biz and cs. My dd’s friend got in tonight with almost identical stats but also had multiple impressive cs-related accomplishments on his resume, such as state robotics champ 2 years in a row and published his own video game with 2 million downloads.

Son is auto admit from very competitive high school. Did not get major (CS) or second choice (ECE).
1510 SAT, nmsf, 4.0
My daughter got into Economics, her second choice. She did not get McCombs, which was her first choice. She is in state, 6th in her class, and will receive an associate degree with her 62 dual degree credits.
She has already got into Mays in Texas A&M. She has to now decide between Economics in UT or Business in A&M.

This is evidence why the 6% rule is bogus.
If they didnt have this artificial number, it wouldnt be an issue.
So ridiculous as it only really affects UT since A&M doesnt have nearly the same demand.
CAP at UT. Accepted to Purdue, Houston, Trinity, Ohio State, Alabama, A&M, Oregon, Baylor. Was offered a scholarship to all of them.
